About The Beagle

The Beagle is a pizza restaurant and bar on Barlow Moor Rd in Manchester, and the home of Nell's Pizza. The pies are New York-inspired and come in 14" and 22" sizes, with slices also on offer. The menu includes the N'duja pizza and the "Do you like Roni Honey" pizza, which pairs N'duja and pepperoni with chilli honey and parmesan. Vegan options include oyster mushroom wings. Behind the bar, 12 rotating keg lines and 4 cask taps sit alongside craft ales and a beer menu, and the team offers tasters of new brews. The building includes a conservatory area and a glass-fronted, open-plan lower tier. Orders are placed at the bar, and the app does not carry every drink.

Customer Review Summary

The complaints centre on waiting and on the food itself. One diner waited over an hour for a pizza that had not reached the table, though staff apologised and gave free drinks. Another found it slow to order at the bar on a busy night, with food and drinks both late, and wished the app covered all drinks and pizza. A third found the N'duja pizza base bready, the garlic bread burnt on the bottom, and the food served on paper plates, with the ice cream sandwich in factory packaging. That reviewer would return for a pint but not for pizza.

“We had a great first experience here. Went for my daughter's 19th birthday. Interesting pizzas with quality ingredients. Lovely relaxed friendly service and atmosphere. Excellent value for money. We were allowed to bring our own cake which was a lovely gesture. We promise to return and try the gelato. AND it's air conditioned. Which is just what was needed. Thoroughly recommend. Beer menu looks fantastic I was driving so couldn't partake. But we are moving to Chorlton imminently and within walking distance so looking forward to exploring the offerings further.”

“Delicious pizza, good vegan options. Pretty venue, great staff. The only thing I would change is more wheelchair accessible tables. I will definitely come back though.”

“25/04/24: Northern Monk Brewery: Faith x Peach pale ale 29/07/23: Red Willow Brewery: Breakfast Stout 5.6%, Kirkstall Brewery: Apricot sour 4.5% and Northern Monk Brewery: Guava Have Faith, guava hazy pale ale 4% 08/10/22: been here many times on the Chorlton Ale Trails, but not for quite some time. Previously known as Ostara, Charango, Scotts Hill and now The Beagle. I've frequented Chorlton from as far back as the last 1980's. In a recent request asking if they were still dog friendly, they replied "please bring dogs". Definitely dog friendly, accommodating and welcoming. Great, fantastic open plan lower tier area, glass fronted, airy and very relaxing. Fantastic choice of craft ales and were more than helpful in suggesting and giving tasters of new brews. They also boast Nells Pizza. It's delicious, although we opted for one slice after a large breakfast (elsewhere) as opposed to the 14 or 22 inch pizzas they also offer. The 'Do you like Roni Honey' was amazing! N'duja and pepperonifrom Cobble Lane, tomato sauce, mozzarella and finished with chilli honey and parmasan.”
