Customer Review Summary
Cocktails are the main draw, with reviewers pointing to a margarita class booked for a birthday, a dirty martini made by a bartender for someone who came in for one drink and stayed for several, and cocktails made by a mixologist at the bar after a disappointing ready-mixed round at a nearby venue. One reviewer says the bar produced an off-menu Caipirinha made with proper Brazilian cachaça. Food comes close behind, with the duck bao singled out and others describing delicious dishes, good portions and vegan options. Service is described as friendly, polite and quick, and live music is noted as not too loud. The recurring caveat is cost. One reviewer found the class pricey for regular visits, another calls the place highly priced and found some portions small for sharing, and a pre-theatre diner was annoyed that a service charge and a charity donation were added automatically to the bill. One reviewer from the margarita class adds that a friend who wasn't drinking alcohol was offered a pineapple mixer and felt just as included.

“After being disappointed at The Midland. Finding out all cocktails are ready mixed, tasting awful and some not even available, we walked over to The Anthologist. What a difference. Greeted with a smile and cocktails made by mixologist at the bar. No disappointment here! Live music too but not too loud. Definitely will be coming here again so won't even bother again with The Midland. Every cloud! 😊”

“Delicious food, great portions, reasonably priced for location, quick service, nice decor with a mixture of seating options. Big thank you to Aysha who looked after us very well.”

“Called for a pre theatre meal this evening. We were seated quickly and the table was spacious. The server was attentive friendly. Although busy the restaurant wasn't too noisy. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Only issue, they automatically add a service charge to the bill and a ' donation ' to a local charity (fine with the latter). The service charge they added was less than the service charge (tip) we would have left. It's annoying when places do this as really tops should be discretionary.”

“Lovely place with delicious food and great drinks! I absolutely loved the duck bao. Eat it without regrets. If you are either Brazilian or find yourself craving for some Latin American taste, ask for their Caipirinha! It's not on the menu, but I have the photo to prove they not only have it, but they actually know how to prepare it and take out their legitimate Cachaça Sagatiba to bring this proper Brazilian treat to life in the heart of windy Manchester! Tottaly recomend it. ;)”

“Title: Fantastic experience, but a bit pricey for regular visits We had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the experience! It was engaging, well-organized, and definitely something we’d love to do more often. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was great, and it was overall a fantastic way to spend time. However, we felt that £80 was a bit on the high side for what was offered, and we think £55 would be a more reasonable price for the value provided. It would make it easier to enjoy it regularly, which we’d love to do! If the price could be adjusted to something more affordable, we’d be back without hesitation”
