About Fish on the Green
Fish on the Green is a seafood restaurant on Church Lane in Maidstone, set on the edge of a green with a small dining space outside. The kitchen works with a focused seafood menu. Starters include scallops with pea purée, and mains feature halibut served with chips or new potatoes, alongside confit shoulder of lamb for those wanting a non-fish option. Parmesan and truffle chips appear on the menu, and a lunch set menu offers two or three courses, with "The Fish" among the choices. Reservations are required, and the room takes walk-ins only when a table is free. The counter is run by the team, and the format is built around set lunches and an à la carte evening service in the same dining room.

Customer Review Summary
Diners single out the seafood, especially the scallops starter and the lobster thermidor, as the standout reason to return, with the halibut and confit shoulder of lamb also drawing praise. Service is consistently described as warm and friendly, and several flag the lunch set menu as a favourite. A few note prices sit on the higher side, and one diner found the king scallops undersized with chips that lacked truffle.

“The first thing that strikes you us the warm friendly greeting and atmosphere when you first arrive. The food menu isn't extensive but the main thing is that the food is great, maybe a little expensive but worth it. I highly recommend "The Fish"”

“First time at FotG, excellent, will definately be going back. A fab venue, restaurant is quite small but very nice. You can dine outside facing the Green which might be nice to do on a hot night... The Front of House young ladies are amazing, really lovely and great service. The 'King' Scallopes were really quite small but absolutely delish, the pea purèe lovely. The Halibut was excellent but you will probably need some chips or new pots with it. We had the Parmesan & Truffle Chips.. None of us could find or taste any truffle but none the less lovely chips.. The Confit shoulder of Lamb was gorgeous, melt in your mouth said our friends. Sorbet's lovely, refreshing....”

“The food here is absolutely amazing. Everything we've had each time we've been here has been so delicious. Favourites are the scallops starter and the lobster thermidore as a main but there are so many brilliant options. There's also a lunch set menu (2 or 3 courses) for a really reasonable price - I assume this is for weekdays given their popularity. Definitely worth booking. Always brilliant service and a lovely relaxing atmosphere. A total gem!”
