About The Little Shed
Opposite a field, play park and woodland on Boxley Rd, The Little Shed is a cafe in Penenden Heath, Maidstone, and dogs are welcome. The kitchen serves breakfast, brunch and lunch, with French toast and a Gardener's breakfast among the morning dishes. Cakes and pastries are baked in house, and homemade carrot cake is one of the cakes on offer. The drinks list covers barista-made coffee, loose leaf teas, smoothies and soft drinks. The room holds fewer than a dozen tables, so it works as a small, compact cafe.

Customer Review Summary
Breakfast is the main draw, with reviewers singling out the vegan breakfast, the smashed avocado on toast and the French toast, and praising fresh, generous portions, sausages and bacon in the fried breakfasts, and a club sandwich that one diner called brilliant. Coffee comes close behind, with a flat white, a cortado and an iced latte all described as excellent, while the carrot cake and a thick, well blended smoothie also get mentions. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and welcoming, including with a rambunctious two year old, and service is said to stay great even when busy. The recurring trade-off is space and timing: the cafe has fewer than a dozen tables, so a few suggest booking at weekends, and one party arriving at 1:30 on a Sunday found hot food already finished. Another reviewer felt an extra charge for chilli jam on a brie and bacon toastie was extortionate. Dogs are welcome, and the cold apple juice rounds out one breakfast.

“I never write reviews but had to for this delightful cafe, we stopped here for something to eat after GoApe with our two young boys and the staff could not be more accommodating, especially with a very rambunctious 2 year old! Food and service was excellent! Cannot recommend enough”

“I have been to the little shed twice now, both times for breakfast and it just doesn't disappoint. The food is fantastic, the service is great and the staff are friendly. It is a great place to eat and you are greeted with a smile which is always a good way to start. I went for breakfast yesterday my family (I recommend booking as it is a popular place) and I am not surprised. I am a big coffee fan and just to say the coffee is first class they even do a cortado. The food was delicious, I had the vegan breakfast (with 2 poached eggs as I am not actually vegan i just like a veggie/vegan breakfasts) my wife had the avocado toast with a poached egg and my son had the little builder's (pictures attached). My vegan breakfast was excellent, the spinach was wilted and not annihilated and poached eggs where perfect with a little pop and I had perfectly runny egg (no snotty white) avocado was fresh and the sourdough had a lovely crunch. There were only clean plates at the end. I had the a flat white and a cortado both were excellent and the apple juice was cold and is from Chegworth Valley it was just right. The whole experience was first class, from a little cafe in Penenden Heath, its a real gem I would highly recommend going if you have not been. I will be going back soon.”

“Such a lovely local gem! Food is always super tasty, fresh, and generous portions. Service always great, even when busy. Lucky to have this little cafe right on our doorstep. My only moan would be that you charge an extra £1 to have chilli jam added to a brie and bacon toastie which seems a bit extortionate”

“One of my favourite cafés. The food is always amazing, the coffee is excellent, and there’s a great selection on the menu with plenty of choice no matter what you’re in the mood for. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the service is always quick and efficient without ever feeling rushed. There’s also plenty of parking, which makes it really convenient to visit. I always enjoy coming here and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food, fantastic coffee, and genuinely excellent service.”
