  “Do not have Sunday lunch! Beef was rough, gravy tasted like bisto, potatoes were barely roasted and cauliflower cheese tasted odd! Deserts were nice, staff were lovely and the service was faultless. It's a beautiful location, but the cook needs a good talking to!”

  “Really enjoyed our impromptu lunch here. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the setting on the river was beautiful. The menu caters for a wide variety and we all enjoyed our choices. The desserts were delicious and the smarties a nice touch.”

Whether you choose to sit on the terrace or inside the cozy restaurant, it’s the perfect place to slow down and enjoy the surroundings. The menu offers a great selection of classic British dishes, and everything we ordered was delicious and satisfying. The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, making the whole evening even more enjoyable. After dinner, it’s lovely to take a walk along the riverside and enjoy the beautiful scenery. A perfect place for a relaxing meal surrounded by nature.”

  “The food is excellent here but the service is terrible. I booked 4 months ago for a table of 6 for 2:30pm July 19th for a birthday and upon arrival was pointed to a table on the upper terrace area. Once seated we waited 15 minutes without a menu before being told we had to move tables to an inside table at the back as they got it wrong. I explained that i had called up 2 days prior to ask for a table outside and when i called was met with an AI bot that said a note will be added to our booking but the outside tables are for first come first served. Seeing as we were first to arrive i was shocked that we were being asked to move as the table we were on was apparently reserved (even though i was told they can't be). We were told that someone reserved it 10 minutes earlier by walking (so my 4 month booking is less important it seems) The waitress with dark hair then decided to accuse me of lying by stating that i booked for inside. After refusing to move she then walked away and came back to advise that we could stay if we don't cause problems and then asked (in her words) "are we all going to stop being moody now"?..... i could not believe my ears!! Once we ordered our food we waited 35 minutes for our starter. We let that go, but then we waited a further 1 hour for our main course. We asked a male waiter if he could check where our food was and his response was "1 sec" before walking off, we asked him again 5 minutes later with a response of "yeh yeh i will check" but he didn't. After asking another waitress where our food was we were told the kitchen had messed up our tickets and that another table had our food (what a coincidence they ordered the exact same...). The waitress with dark hair came back over and said "i thought you had your mains, i have been on a break". In total it took 2 hours to receive our main course and 4 hours for us to have a 3 course lunch that ran into dinner. It's a great place for drinks but the service is the worst i have come across with rude staff especially the female who i think is the supervisor. We were given £50 off the bill but then asked if we wanted to still include the service charge...what a cheek! I would not mind but we spent a lot of money in total on drinks etc waiting for our food. It spoilt the birthday atmosphere which is a shame as the food itself is great. I would give a 1 star if the food wasn't great.”

  “What a shame for a beautifully located river restaurant to deliver very poor service and barley adequate food! 30 minutes until menu's offered, 1.5 hours until main course with only shared nibbles to start! Half a serving of half cooked chips! Underwhelming Wagyu Burger. Cutlery in a bucket! Quite honestly I thought I was at a Weatherspoons! - I'm so sorry to report this, as last year we had a lovely experience = 6 of us for lunch! - We're they busy Sat night yes, naturally. Private function upstairs yes, but so what!.. I write this not to a Boathouse response, but as all TA posts for potential customers...Will I try again one day, yes, although my Wife says no...Such a shame. It's not an uncommon issue in the UK - Not enough high quality staff, including kitchen staff! Try Skindles, it was OK there a few weeks back or The Ferry Cookham...or at least until The Boathouse get's their act together....which as a local, I hope it does. Sorry folks 3/10.”

  “I walked in the building, immediately I was taken back by the view of the river and the open plan of the place. I was sat at a lovely table by the window and greeted by this very sweet girl, I think her name was Ria. While the menu was filled with great options I couldn’t resist the temptation of a lamb rump. The meal was cooked to my liking (not too red) and the mash was very buttery. All in all, my table was we’ll kept and looked after and Ria was very nice and polite.”
