About Sauce and Flour
Sauce and Flour is a restaurant in Maidenhead, open daily at 4A High St, where the pasta is made in-house, including fresh individual ravioli. That gives the kitchen a base for daily specials, and a venison and mushroom tagliatelle is one of them. Crab linguine is also on the menu. Starters and desserts fill out the rest of the meal, and focaccia is served alongside dishes. Birthday diners receive a small complimentary dessert of gelato or ice cream. The room has booths and a bar where guests sit and share plates.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers come for the fresh in-house pasta, singling out the orecchiette with spicy sausage ragu, the crab linguine, the squash ravioli grated with Parmigiano-Reggiano at the table, and a venison and mushroom tagliatelle special. Close behind are the starters: crispy calamari rings that one diner says avoid the rubbery texture, beef and mac and cheese croquettes, arancini, crispy aubergine with tomato, and king prawns whose sauce prompted an extra focaccia to soak it up. Desserts such as tiramisu, panna cotta and gelato also get praise, as does an authentic Italian coffee. Several describe quick service, friendly staff, low warm lighting and a relaxed vibe, and a few mention reasonable prices. The one criticism is a side of spaghetti served with the chicken Milanese that a reviewer found lacking seasoning and flavour, so they swapped it for fried polenta. One reviewer also found the duck ragu not to their taste. Birthday diners recall a complimentary gelato with happy birthday iced on the plate in chocolate, and another a small birthday ice cream at the end.

“The owners of this place should be counting their lucky stars with the level of staff they have. My wife and I pop in regularly to sit at the bar and share plates, and I also bring my family here. It goes without saying that the food and menu are incredibly impressive, but the people truly make this place. Thank you especially to Andrea for always being so welcoming. It's a special restaurant. Best regards, Liam”

“What can I say, so refreshing to see a restaurant where everything was perfect from beginning to end. We ordered the croquetes (beef and mac&cheese) for entry and they were delicious. The mains were crab linguini (yummy), Duck Ragu (well cooked and tasty but not really to my taste) and chicken Milanese (tender and juicy with a lemony flavour). I would say the only thing I was less happy with was the spaghetti that comes with the chicken Milanese, dressed with the beautiful Italian colours but lacking seasoning and flavour. However I had also ordered as a side the fried polenta that I replaced it with and it was amazing. Food was quickly delivered. The desserts were divine (tiramisu and panacotta) and to finish the meal an authentic Italian coffee (rich and creamy and also bitterly which I love). The customer service was also impeccable with the waitress being able to answer a question we had about another dish. If you haven’t been yet don’t wait another day.”

“I love Sauce & Flour for its simplicity. Yet it's amazing how much flavour they achieve with such a straightforward approach. This was my fifth or sixth visit, and every single time the food has been outstanding. To top it all off, the service has always been immaculate. A restaurant that's consistently excellent and one I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.”

“We had such a lovely dinner here and honestly left really happy. The food was genuinely delicious — everything we ordered was well cooked and full of flavour. The staff were friendly and relaxed, and the recommendations we got were actually really good. The restaurant itself is beautiful without feeling over the top, and it had a really nice atmosphere for a birthday dinner. I also really appreciated the little birthday ice cream at the end — it was a simple touch, but it meant a lot. Overall, it made for a really enjoyable and memorable birthday night. Thank you for the warm experience.”
