Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the pasta, with one calling it the best in a long time, another praising the house marinara for its balance of tang and sweetness, and another describing veal cooked in chianti and its meat juices. The wood-fired oven earns close praise for crisp-crusted pizzas and garlic breads. Also named are the frittura di mare sharing platter with moist fish and a crispy coating, chicken liver fegatini, meatballs in tomato sauce, and a tuna steak coated in pistachios with fennel and courgette. Many describe the food as authentic and the service as welcoming and friendly, including with children, and a few call the prices reasonable. Desserts divide opinion. The tiramisu and pistachio semifreddo draw praise, while one diner found desserts the weakest point of an otherwise good dinner. Several are repeat visitors, and one table describes scraping every last morsel off their plates.

“Absolutely superb. Genuine, authenticly Italian food. Best I've had in the last 45 years. Reasonable prices too. Nothing pretentious, they let the food do the talking.”

“Well we originally thought of trying Spago but we opted for here instead. What a piece of serendipity. We met friends for lunch and opted to eat inside only because of road noise. We had such a warm Sicilian welcome. The Rosetta bread is not something I would usually choose, to many carbs ! However it was delicious far to delicious. I then opted for fegatini Di Polo. I love a chicken liver and again they were spot on. Frittura Di mare sharing platter for two was absolutely perfect, fish moist, coating crispy. Prawns tasted of prawn. It was lunchtime so had to watch the calories so no dessert because I am addicted to Strega. So we moved outside for drinks and one of the party had pistachio semifredo which was pronounced as sublime. And I converted my friend to the joys of Strega. We were to busy eating and talking to take my usual photos. There was interesting Grappa on the bar and I want to return for some of that. Can't fault this place and I highly recommend that you try it. We will definitely return and very soon. Incredible value for money. The whole experience warms the cockles of the soul. Well done to all involved we thank you.”

“Lovely place, really nice food and great friendly service. They had a lot of dishes on the menu that you don't see in a lot of other Italian restaurants, and it was really nice to be able to try something different. My wife is a big lover of seafood and she struggled to choose...there were at least 10 dishes on the menu she was really interested in. For starters we had italian meatballs in tomato sauce (sauce was amazing) calamari, and a cheese and tomato garlic bread...and mains we had pasta with veal cooked in chianti and the meat juices, and tuna steak coated in pistachios with fennel and courgette strips. All were fantastic and will definitely go back soon.”

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Another absolutely spectacular meal at Solito Posto and yet again not a single complaint from our table — unless we’re counting the disappointment that eventually the plates were empty. The highlight of the evening, however, was the complimentary floor show from a nearby diner who informed anyone within a three-table radius that her meal “wasn’t seasoned enough” and that she’d “been to Italy and knew how Italian food should taste.” A bold statement indeed while sitting in a Sicilian restaurant, eating food prepared by Sicilian chefs, using Sicilian recipes. It takes a certain level of confidence to explain Sicilian cuisine to Sicilians. Almost inspirational, really. Meanwhile, the rest of us were busy committing the universally recognised sign of culinary dissatisfaction: scraping every last morsel off our plates and wondering whether asking to lick the bowl would be socially acceptable. We’ve eaten here more times than is probably healthy for our waistlines and have never once had a bad meal. The food is authentic, beautifully cooked and consistently outstanding. A huge thank you to Giani and the whole team for another wonderful evening, incredible food and for maintaining their professionalism in the face of what can only be described as an unexpected episode of MasterChef: International Expert Edition. We’ll continue trusting the Sicilians on the subject of Sicilian food. See you again very soon!”

“Jonny and his team offer the best Italian and Sicilian choices of imaginative and creative meals we have ever enjoyed. Their wood fire pizza oven just nails not only the pizzas and garlic breads but many of the other amazing dishes. Not been open for very long but the following of the locals sends a clear message that this venue is just great.”
