  “Me and my partner went and had a mixed grill each and it was lovely. The best mixed grill we have ever had. The staff were lovely and really helpful. Building is very very nice with a nice atmosphere. We will definitely be going here again. There is so much choice in the menu. Great experience. 5 star 🌟 …”

  “Great location, good pub with decent food on their recently updated menu. Meat pie was very good but the 3 salads we had were light on salad and dressing and bulked up with new potatoes. The main ingredients of crab, salmon and crayfish tails, and a tart were all good. Dogs allowed in the bar area but not allowed to run up a tab in the bar even though we were eating. Service was average, a cheerful smile costs nothing. Too cold and windy for the outdoor area but it looked like a great garden area for a nice day.”

  “The Splash Pub, i believe part of the Royal Oak near Kenwick Park & Louth got good reviews but I'm honestly struggling to see why it gets above average. The pub area had a very limited beer selection, was pokey and whilst clearly due to the historic building, however I've seen much more made of similar buildings elsewhere so it can't be entirely down to that. Just lacked imagination. The bar menu was identical to the restaurant that we'd booked. The restaurant area is really well done, much better than the bar. Service was somewhat chaotic. Difficult to get any service even when trying to pay the bill. The menu was uninspiring, pricing probably in the high end of average but the food just not great, not bad, just not good and certainly not living up to the reviews. To put into contrast the bar food at my local village pub is better and has a wider range of options available with a tiny one man kitchen. All in all just disappointing. I'd tell travellers to try Louth where there's a bunch of more interesting options.”

  “If you want a meal that hits the table and immediately feels right, The Splash is it. The Grimsby beer battered haddock is exactly what you hope for and rarely get. Fresh fish, perfectly cooked, with a crisp batter that is light not greasy. The chips are proper cut, the mushy peas are spot on, and the lemon adds that final bright note. It tastes like it should because it is done properly. The homemade steak and ale pie is comfort food at its finest. Slow cooked steak in a rich ale gravy, wrapped in golden pastry, served with creamed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and beef gravy. Every bite feels thoughtful and satisfying. Great food, friendly atmosphere, and consistency that keeps you coming back. One of those places that earns its reputation plate by plate.”
