Customer Review Summary
Sunday lunch is what most reviewers come for, with a choice of roasts including roast beef, plus joints described as beautifully cooked with plenty of veg and gravy. The cook gets repeated credit, with one reviewer saying they have followed her from pub to pub. Close behind, the steak and ale pie of the week is called fantastic with good portion sizes, and desserts draw mentions too, including a very light sponge, a banoffee pie and a lemon posset. One reviewer enjoyed a selection of Indian dishes from a visiting kitchen. Reviewers describe a proper, traditional country pub in the Wolds, a converted house with a warm atmosphere, a fire after a walk and a welcome for dogs. The staff are called friendly even when rushed, and one visitor felt comfortable in a village pub of mostly locals. The garden is pleasant and secluded, though one reviewer thinks it could use a makeover. One reviewer says to book because it gets busy, and a half pint paid for with scrounged-up change closes one account.

“One of the more unusual pubs around. Someones house converted to a pub. It's a real pub right in the sticks. Quite a gem.”

“Great untouched pub in the wolds serving a delicious and generous Sunday lunch with a choice of Beef Pork and Chicken ( sometimes sausages and pie also) followed by a choice of desserts ( the sponge is so light we love it!) Matt is always so jolly and friendly even though he’s always rushed off his feet and Lisa is a great cook! Great value too ! Dogs are welcome and the fire is a welcome sight after a walk in the wolds before lunch. It’s cash only due to poor WiFi. Really look forward to going.”
