About The Mulwray
The Mulwray is a wine bar in London, set on the first floor above The Blue Posts pub and reached by a side entrance on Rupert Court. Guests walk through the downstairs bar and climb a small winding staircase to the saloon bar, where floor-to-ceiling drinks cabinets hold the collection and framed photos cover some of the walls. The cocktail lounge has low seating and stools. The wine list is short and wide ranging, with British sparkling wines, a natural wine and a Bin-Ends section of rarer bottles. Wine flights are offered, including a white, a new wine and an aged Fleurie. On the cocktail side, the menu includes an espresso martini and classic cocktails with twists. Tables can be booked.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the wine itself, with the wine flights and a British sparkling rosé singled out, alongside a Fleurie that one diner picked as the standout of three. Close behind are the knowledgeable team, who talk through wines, cocktails and liqueurs, and the low-lit, calm room where conversation comes easily. Others mention a chardonnay from Westwell, a smooth espresso martini and classic cocktails with twists. The hidden upstairs setting above a busy pub is a recurring surprise. A few note the low seating and stools, and one says the flights did not impress. The most serious complaint is billing: one couple says a bottle of wine was charged at more than double its listed price, then a second bottle was overcharged on a return visit. They say staff were dismissive, told them "That's what you drank," and corrected the bill without apologising. Another group was held to their 90 minute booking because the next guests were arriving.

“English wine week, get the sparkling whilst it’s there, it’s fantastic. Lovely service too!”

“Such a great calm wine bar in the heart of soho. Super comfortable, lovely vibe and ambience, low lighting and some simply delectable wine to drink. Would highly recommend”

“Always a delight. The ambience was, as always, perfectly on point - such a cute hidden gem. We were so pleased to secure a spot for six before our dinner. The team are consistently warm and welcoming, effortlessly setting the perfect vibe. Three of our friends had never visited before; they were genuinely impressed and pleasantly surprised that such a special place existed.”

“The wine bar itself is charming and cosy — ideal for a quiet date or a relaxed evening. However, the service and billing practices here are deeply concerning and have completely undermined the experience. My boyfriend and I visited this place two weeks ago and ordered a £45 bottle of wine. When we asked for the bill, we were told the total was £106. When we questioned it, the staff insisted, “That’s what you drank,” in a rather dismissive tone. Only after checking did they realise their mistake and correct the bill without offering an apology. Despite this incident, we decided to give the place another chance last week. The same waitress recognised us. We ordered a £50 bottle of white wine — yet again, the bill came to £60. When I pointed this out and referred to the wine list, she claimed “the menu price is wrong.” To make matters worse, the staff — a small straight-mid-length-haired lady and the other lady (served 9:30-11:30 pm on 10 Oct) — remarked, “You are very lucky, you got a discount twice.” This was both rude and unprofessional. Being overcharged twice and then told we were “lucky” to have caught it is not something I expect from a so-called classic wine bar. It’s a real shame, as the atmosphere and selection are lovely, but the lack of professionalism, transparency, and accountability from the staff completely ruins the experience. If you choose to visit, double — even triple — check your bill.”

“Celebrating Beaujolais Nouveau, we booked a table at The Mulwray to sample some fine first harvests. We opted for the wine flight which included a white, a new wine and an aged Fleurie. All three very different but delightful. Especially the Fleurie. The service was top notch. Speedy, friendly and the team certainly knew their wines. The atmosphere was pretty buzzing, more so because it sits above a busy pub. The cocktail lounge is mainly low seating and stools. Not the most comfortable if you’re tall. But is funky and well decorated. It is clearly a popular place. We booked for 90 mins and we were not permitted any longer, purely because the next round of guests were flowing in. We will go back - absolutely. Their normal wine menu looks very interesting!”

“Tucked away above The Blue Posts pub and accessed via a discreet side entrance on Rupert Court, The Mulwray saloon bar is adorned with floor to ceiling drinks cabinets housing an impressive selection of liquor and fine wines. Succinct but wide ranging, the wine list includes producers of the moment, lesser-known gems and a Bin-Ends section filled with rarer bottles. The cocktail menu takes inspiration from old classics using craft liquor and spirits to fashion delicious mixed drinks.”
