About WooJung

WooJung is a Korean restaurant located inside a Korean supermarket on New Oxford Street in London. The dining room is small, with little space between tables, and seating works on a walk-in basis only, with a queue often forming at busier times. K-pop plays through the room, and photos and signatures of Korean celebrities, including Jennie, line the walls. Diners come for the seafood pancake and tteokbokki from the wider Korean menu. High chairs are available for families with young children. The restaurant opens daily.

Customer Review Summary

The seafood pancake draws the most praise, repeatedly singled out as a highlight alongside the tteokbokki, though several note the tteokbokki's portion has shrunk over time, arriving heavier on sauce with less fish cake and rice cake. Beyond these, diners return often to the kimchi pancake, sundubu-jjigae, and the Spicy Pork Rice Bowl, describing the food as authentic, flavorful, and generously portioned for the price, with friendly staff and a lively, cosy, k-pop-filled atmosphere tucked behind or above a Korean grocery store. Complaints recur around inconsistency: one diner found the tofu soup oversalted with little seafood and the seafood pancake nearly empty of seafood, another found the jjajangmyeon sauce watery rather than thick and the kimchi off-tasting, and a third described overcooked, reheated-tasting meats and a bibimbap served without the expected hot stone crisp. One reviewer also reports being repeatedly asked to move tables while the restaurant sat empty. Despite this, most describe quick seating even in larger groups, promptly served dishes, and portions generous enough that one group ended up taking food home.

“The food was extremely good and very reasonably priced! The owner (사장님) was so friendly and shared interesting stories about her life in the U.K. We visited Woojung for dinner and then came back for lunch the very next day—that says it all! If you're looking for authentic K-food in London, I highly recommend Woojung! From 뉴욕부부. 사장님 감사합니다.”

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ As a Korean, I can confidently say this restaurant serves authentic Korean food. I had the Spicy Pork Rice Bowl (Jeyuk Deopbap), and it was absolutely delicious with rich, authentic flavors that reminded me of home. The Kimchi Pancake was crispy and flavorful, and the Galbitang (Beef Short Rib Soup) was rich, comforting, and perfectly seasoned. If you’re looking for real Korean cuisine in London, this is definitely a place worth visiting. Highly recommended!”

“Absolutely incredible!! My friend and I arrived slightly early (16:35?) and were made aware by a very sweet staff member (Sunny) that the restaurant opens at 17:00. We came back at the correct time and were seated immediately, though the restaurant definitely got busier later on. Once we had ordered, we were served our food very quickly by kind and polite staff members, and the food was absolutely delicious. As a vegetarian, I can safely say that the veggie and tofu options were plenty, and the tofu was so well cooked. The food was so delicious and I love that there a multiple spicy and also non spicy dishes!! The atmosphere of the restaurant was warm and friendly, and I enjoyed seeing Changbin of Stray Kids' signature on the wall and hearing kpop in the background! All in all, it was an incredible experience and I'll definitely be back! Thank you Sunny for being so kind to my friend and I too!!”

“The spicy noodle soup was full of seafood but a little spicy for me instead of flavourful. We ordered 1 dish each and a pajeon for share, it was very filling. Also for the taste, the price is very decent.”

“I have been to Woojung both years that I've been in London for concerts, and it has been amazing every time. The food is delicious and definitely worth trying if you like Korean cuisine. It's quite a small place, so you might have to wait for a table, but I've never had to wait long, even when we visited as a group of six. K-pop is always playing on the TVs, and it's fun to see all the Korean celebrities who have eaten there featured on the walls. I'd definitely recommend it!”
