Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the complimentary starters that arrive before the main dishes, a spread of lentil soup, hummus, salads, and fresh baked bread, followed by a round of tea at the end of the meal, with several noting a second cup is only free when the restaurant isn't busy. Close behind, diners repeatedly praise the grilled meats and mixed grill, describing them as juicy with a crisp exterior, and one reviewer specifically enjoyed the lamb neck dolma and kebab as tasting homemade. Several reviews describe returning for decades and recommending the place to family. A recurring complaint centers on the dolma, which multiple reviewers recently found old, fried, and lacking spice, with staff reportedly refusing to swap it for a free salad without an extra charge and dismissing complaints by saying other customers liked it. Others describe rising prices with shrinking portions, slow service on naan bread, and one instance of a takeaway order arriving cold after a disputed minimum-order rule; that same reviewer also reports observing a handshake outside before someone went straight into the kitchen. One diner mentions the restaurant is cash only.

“The best best best place to have a proper Iraqi meal!!! Rich and tasty Iraqi dishes. Just like the ones an Iraqi mom cooks at home. If you genuinely wanna taste the real food from Iraq, you gotta try it here. So proud of this place for keeping it's standards after all these years. I've been ordering food from here for over 20 years now. I remember I used to crave some dishes while I was pregnant and if come here and have what I want. They were always so kind and polite. And the service is quick and everything is freshly cooked.”

“I had a great experience at Sarchnar Restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavour and perfectly cooked. The service was also excellent — staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. On top of that, the prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. Overall, a fantastic place that I would definitely recommend and will happily visit again.”

“This is the best Kurdish restaurant on this entire street. I always used to pass by this area, but never went in thinking if it would be to my expectations, and if they only accept cash, because I rarely ever carry cash. This time, I’m glad I went in and asked. They do accept card payments for anyone wondering. Every staff member here is so friendly, kind and accommodating. The hospitality here is next level. It’s like you’re back home. The service is great and very efficient. The food arrives very quickly and super fresh. One great thing about this place that is that it offers free appetizers, which includes a bunch of delicious side dishes, a big naan, and a lentil soup bowl to start with. You also get some tea at the end of your meal which is included as part of their hospitality. You don’t have to pay for the 1st cup, and I believe they only do seconds for free only if it’s not busy, which is completely understandable. You get your money’s worth here. I’m so glad I decided to come here and now that I found this gem of a place, I will never be going anywhere else. This is my only favourite restaurant now. Thank you for taking care of me. I’ll be back soon🤍”
