About Casa Madeira
Casa Madeira is a Portuguese restaurant in London, set under the railway arches by Vauxhall station on Albert Embankment. The business spreads across two arches, with a cafe under the first and a deli and restaurant under the second, so a visit can start at the cafe counter or go straight to a table in the restaurant. The menu focuses on seafood and fresh fish, including sea bass and grilled octopus. Pastel de nata appears as a dessert and is also sold by the box.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the fresh fish and seafood, with the sea bass and grilled octopus named as standouts, and the pastel de nata close behind as a dessert and takeaway favourite. Others mention the T-bone steak, pork stew, baby chicken with seafood rice, and lamb cutlets, and several describe portions as large or vast. Staff are called friendly and helpful by most, though one reviewer found service brusque but efficient. The railway arch setting brings noise from trains and a busy room, and the patio overlooking the Albert Embankment is a draw. The main complaint concerns bread brought without asking and charged per person, raised by two reviewers. One of them also felt rushed to leave despite a 20% service charge, and found some dishes overpriced for their size. Another found the melon starter had little flavour. One table celebrating a birthday had a cake brought from next door.

“Having just been to Portugal we thought it would be fun to try this place, just around the corner from our hotel. We were not disappointed. It was a treat to sit on the patio overlooking the Albert Embankment. The menu has lots of typical Portuguese dishes and some good, inexpensive Portuguese wines. Service was brusque but professional and efficient. Prices are more than reasonable.”

“What a lovely lunch, missed the delicious seafood. Especially the pork stew. The dessert was amazing.”

“We wanted to avoid the expensive fried fast food at The Oval cricket ground and found this restaurant only a small diversion from Vauxhall station. We had a delicious authentic Portuguese lunch here. All the menu items were freshly sourced and cooked. The sea bass was the best I have had in a very long time and the desserts were home made and delicious. Being in the mainline railway arches there is some noise but not too distracting. We will definitely be back each time we come to The Oval in future - what a find !”

“I went to this restaurant this week with 5 friends who I eat with about every 6 weeks. I had read the reviews good and not good so was unsure what to expect. I found a vibrant and busy restaurant under the arches by Vauxhall station. The room was quite noisy both because of the people and the trains overhead. I am a very picky eater and like very simple meat dishes my friends vary and like many different types of food. 2 of us had melon and palma ham others had avocado and prawns and whitebait all the portions were large and apart from the melon having little flavour we were all happy. To follow I had well done lamb cutlets (5!) and chips others had pasta sea bass (huge) veggie burger and I have forgotten the rest all the portions were vast and several of us could not finish not because it was not good but it was just too much. The staff were friendly and helpful even if they did sometimes forget to bring the extra bottle of wine. Overall we all enjoyed the meal which we thought was good value for money.”

“Love the food at Casa Madeira. Staff is very friendly and helpful, a nice variety of Portuguese goodies to try. Both takeaway or seat it, sweet or savoury. I recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.”
