About 43 Szechuan Kitchen
43 Szechuan Kitchen is a Sichuan restaurant in London, on South Lambeth Road. The menu is built around dry pot dishes, and a cauliflower dry pot sits among them. Sliced Iberico pork and crispy chilli chicken are also on the list, so the kitchen covers both vegetable and meat mains. Seasoning draws on chilli, pepper and peppercorn, balanced with spring onion, ginger and garlic. The menu is extensive and carries photos of the dishes, which helps when choosing from a long list. The dining room is small and simply laid out. The restaurant is open daily.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return above all for the authentic Sichuan spice, the numbing, buzzing ma la heat that several say is properly balanced rather than oily. Crispy chilli chicken comes up most among specific dishes, described as addictive and crispy yet melting in the mouth, with one regular also pointing to the cauliflower dry pot. Close behind are the Iberico pork, praised as great quality and full of flavour, and the braised pork, so tender it could be cut with a spoon. Others single out the mapo tofu, the tender boiled fish, the grilled fish, and a boiled prawn paste that tastes of real prawns rather than starch. One first-time visitor describes a cold dish with a unique broth that left their lips buzzing. Portions are called generous and prices reasonable, and the staff are described as friendly and attentive, helpful with an unfamiliar menu. The space is called casual, cozy, and simple. No complaints appear in the reviews, and one diner notes that the dishes arrived looking exactly like the menu photos.

“Absolutely delicious, we got the braised pork and chongqing chicken. We were impressed with how the food came out looking exactly like the menu photos. The pork was so tender it could be cut with the spoon, and the chicken was very crispy yet melted in our mouths. The service was nice and attentive as well. We will definitely be coming back!”

“This was incredible. I am an American visiting London and I wanted to try some foreign food because I heard that you should branch out when here. The service and atmosphere were both fantastic. The staff was very friendly and the menu was beautiful. I could already see why the place was packed with customers. I got my food quick and it was reasonably priced as well. I can honestly say I’ve never had food like this before. I got a spicy dish and it literally left my lips buzzing. It was a dish meant to be served cold, and normally I’m not a fan of that, but today I sure was. It filled me up and the taste of the broth was so unique. I’ve tried a lot of different dishes in my life and I’ve never had an experience like this. If you are looking to try something new, especially authentic Chinese food, come here!!!!!”
