About La Cucina Di Daffy 2
La Cucina Di Daffy 2 is a small, family-run Italian restaurant on Theobalds Rd in London that hosts live music nights. The kitchen makes fresh pasta, including tagliolini vongole and ravioli with king prawns, and serves a veal escalope with chips. Customer Review Summary
Friendly, attentive staff are the most repeated draw, with reviewers describing a warm, cozy, family-style feel and an owner who chatted with a first-time table. Among the food, pasta comes up most, including a delicious lasagne, ravioli with king prawns and a risotto, while mussels, burrata with prosciutto crudo and melon, and veal escalope with chips also earn praise. Close behind are desserts, with the banoffee pie, a pecan pie and a shared tiramisu singled out. The one critical account is detailed. That diner found the bruschetta on untoasted white bread with watery tomatoes, the veal escalope tepid with a bland sauce, both mains on cold plates, and the tagliolini vongole short on sauce with pasta too soft. The same diner still credited the well-cooked clams, a hushed dining room and service that struck the right balance between casual and formal. One visitor came back two days after dinner for breakfast.

“I had a wonderful time eating at La Cucina Di Daffy 2. The staff were very attentive to the small group I was dining with - drinks arrived quickly and so did the delicious food. The staff were very friendly and took care of our every need. The owner was happy to chat with us too, which adds to the atmosphere of a lovely independent restaurant - even as a first-time customer I felt welcomed and appreciated. Thank you to everyone who made my evening special 😊 I couldn't manage the tiramisu myself, but one of the group did have it (and shared it around which is customary apparently), and it looked absolutely divine. That definitely goes on the list for my next visit!”

“I have visited this restaurant several times and always have a great experience. The food is consistently delicious, and the service is outstanding. This evening, I started with chips topped with grated Italian cheese and a burrata with prosciutto crudo and melon, both of which were excellent. I then enjoyed the ravioli with king prawns and the veal escalope with chips, all cooked perfectly and full of flavour. To finish, I had a pecan pie and a few Aperol Spritz cocktails, making for a wonderful meal. What really stands out is the attentive staff. They regularly checked in to make sure everything was perfect, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The attention to detail, friendly service, and quality of the food keep me coming back. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Italian cuisine and excellent customer service.”

“Awesome dinner here tonight! We had the mussels and risotto and they were incredible! One of the best mussels I've had in London that I only remembered to take a photo towards the end 😂”

“This was the worst Italian meal I've had in quite a long time. We started by ordering a bottle of house red which was a whopping £36 and shared a starter of bruschetta. Characterless white bread was not toasted, not rubbed with garlic, topped with watery greenhouse tomatoes, and parsley was substituted for basil. There was no discernible olive oil nor seasoning. The best thing on the plate was a drizzle of unorthodox balsamic. Three small slices of bread cost £12. My partner's main was a tepid veal escalope. Both mains were served on cold plates, incidentally. The sauce was bland apart from the sage flavour. How can something flavoured with capers and lemon be so lacking in flavour? The best thing on his plate were the french fries, which were at least hot. I ordered the tagliolini vongole. Clams were cooked well with a pleasant texture, and the best thing on the plate. There was virtually no sauce, so the pasta was very bland. I did taste some chilli. I do commend the use of fresh pasta, but it was too soft for my taste. There were a few positives. Restaurant is hushed even when quite full. Service was the right balance between casual and formal. Staff were attentive and formal enough to bring new cutlery between courses but not so formal that they hover over you and pour wine. Decor is pleasant. I was less keen on the 80s pop soundtrack, but it was not too loud.”

“The perfect place to dine, the quality of the food and the charm of the setting create the perfect atmosphere to share with friends, family, or a night out with your partner. The service and attention are excellent, and the prices are very reasonable. I recommend it 100% A+”
