Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise tasty, delicious food and friendly service at this small family run restaurant. One diner enjoyed chicken tikka biryani with vegetable curry, Balti lamb and peshwari naan, after meat samosas and onion bhajis. Others mention generous portions and good flavours across starters and mains. Staff are described as friendly and polite, including a late-evening seating for a pregnant visitor, and a few call the atmosphere intimate, relaxed and warm. Several recommend the place, and one cites excellent value. The criticism is sharper in a minority of reviews. One diner found the vegetarian food only averagely good, with a single red wine by the glass called really bad, and described a surly man at the desk who mentioned closing time on arrival. One reviewer reports a greasy high chair and says staff handed over a lemon-scented wipe to clean it, so they left. Another reports a chicken korma arriving undercooked, with the replacement also very pink.

“I want to start by saying that this restaurant currently has a Food Hygiene Rating of 3, which immediately raised some concerns for me. My partner and I hadn't yet decided whether we wanted to eat there, so I asked for a table while I waited for him to arrive. During that time, a member of staff brought over a high chair for my 18-month-old daughter. Unfortunately, it was covered in dried food and grease and was clearly not clean. I asked the staff member if he could wipe it down, but he ignored my request and walked away to take a phone call. By the time my partner arrived, we asked a different waiter if the high chair could be cleaned. Rather than cleaning it himself, he went behind the bar, returned with a lemon-scented hand wipe, and handed it to my partner to clean the high chair himself. If they think that’s a suitable way to clean a filthy high chair, I don’t even want to imagine what ms happening in the kitchen. At that point, we decided to leave, it does not inspire confidence in the overall cleanliness and hygiene standards of the restaurant.”

“We had a lovely time having dinner at Lavang. It was such a great surprise on all levels; food was very tasty, generous portions, service was friendly and attentive and atmosphere intimate and overall relaxed and warm. We can't wait to come back as were both impressed by our experience! Thank you to Sobur Ahmed, Shabbir Ahmed and Chef Rajon!”

“Ordered Chicken Korma from here which is usually spot on, but today wasn't the same.. The chicken was undercooked.. contacted them to be hung up on, called back for them to say they cook the chicken beforehand for 2 hours so it can't be undercooked.. they sent out another and collected the previous they sent out - the 2nd was also undercooked (chicken was very pink). If ordering from here please check your meat unless you want food poisoning.”

“A little restaurant that holds about 35 people , basic maroon and black decor , clean and very presentable. The food was tasty and edible - the mild was not spicy at all . Very tasty and colourful food we had chicken tikka biryani which comes with a vegetable curry / sauce and we also had Balti lamb and peshwari naan, for starters we had meat samosa and onion bhajias poisons and a tray of dips . Raita , mango chutney, pickle and cucumber salad- sadly they rake these dips away which I think they should as they are great accompaniments to the dishes”
