Quick info
About Dishoom Canary Wharf
Dishoom Canary Wharf is an Indian restaurant in London, on Water St at Wood Wharf, where an old-Bombay interior and music recreate the 1970s city. Big windows look out over the water. The menu covers curries, grills, small plates and vegetarian options, and dishes are ordered to share. Chilli Cheese Toast and Okra fries sit among the small plates, and the Mutton Pepper Fry is on the list of mains. The day runs from breakfast through lunch and an afternoon chai to dinner, and the bar pours cocktails and a house IPA for those who come only for a drink. The restaurant takes walk-ins, and the host gives a buzzer when a table is ready.
Good to know
“Dishoom is nestled in a little corner of Wood Wharf in Canary Wharf, will bring to life the glittering-shimmering, big-business, metropolitan scene of ‘70s Bombay. Join us at Dishoom to begin your day with breakfast, which might be a Bacon Naan Roll, a Kejriwal or a Big Bombay. Then lunch lightly on Roomali Rolls and Salad Plates, or linger with a feast. Refresh your afternoon with a drop of Chai and a small plate or two. Dine early or dine late. Or just join us for a tipple - perhaps an India Gimlet, a Permit Room Old-fashioned, or our very good Dishoom IPA?”

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the lively, buzzy old-Bombay atmosphere, with its music, chatter and big windows looking onto the water. On the food, the Chicken Berry Britannia Biryani draws the strongest praise, its sweet bursts of berries lifting it, with the Chilli Cheese Toast close behind. Others name the garlic naan, mutton pepper fry, okra fries, mango chutney and the chai. Service is described as friendly and attentive even when busy, and one bartender's drink recommendations are called spot on. The recurring complaint is value. One party found the starters disproportionately expensive for the portions and the service charge steep, and another called the meal pricey. A few found the cooking good but not exceptional. They describe the lamb chops and the Salli Boti Lamb as tender but with the spices not coming through, and one reviewer called the place a little overrated. Small gestures also stand out, such as a complimentary dessert brought out for an anniversary and a Mango Bite candy handed over at the end of a meal.

“First Dishoom experience and love the Canary Wharf Vibe (area and restaurant) We preplanned our menu as we drove here so was ready to go - six of us for a Birthday! Couldn’t reserve as it was after 6pm Was told 45mins as it was full but not much of a queue but the buzzer went off before 20mins which is always good Welcomed by Abhi with a smile and relaxing attentive approach and presented him with our order as he an food came promptly Now the Food: Love it! Loved it all! Chicken Ruby Okra fries Lamb Biriyani … now I’m just listing all we had lol My personal favourite: I loved the deep flavour of the Mutton Pepper fry! The chocolate chilli - blew me away with the first bite - it was smooth - almost bitter, sweet Amazing We can’t handle chilli heat well in general but the food here is just right! Can wait to comeback to try more from the menu and hopefully get service from Abhi who was excellent serving us!”

“Really enjoyed my visit! The food and drinks were excellent, and the atmosphere was busy and lively. The location is also fantastic and makes it a great spot to meet a friend or colleague for a meal and drinks. Callum’s (bartender) recommendations were spot on — everything he recommended was delicious. The staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive throughout, which made the whole experience even better. Would definitely recommend and come back!”

“I think if I went with more people I would obviously have enjoyed the meal more. As a solo diner most of the time when I like to review, it gives me better insight and judgement when I get to eat by myself. That being said, dishoom has been on my list for a long time and I think going again another time would give it more justice when I get to try more from its large menu. That being said, I will obviously give an honest review for my first time. I was honestly panicking when my server helped me order poppadoms (I probably should’ve ordered naan too but I didn’t wna overeat and overspend). But the mango chutney which is not in the photo was a very big surprise. Very refreshing flavours with some spice and a good amount of mango fruity flavour to it. Another pleasant yet panicky order was the aubergine chutney. 3.90 for that was an unbelievable bargain coz it was very necessary with my rice and had great flavours, chunks of aubergine and an almost tomatoey flavour sweet and sour yet a lil spicy. For the price, a perfect pairing. Also the rice for the price was a very good portion size and I could tell was meant to share almost. To me the lamb chops were ok. Very meaty, a little tender, the char added a slight depth of flavour but wasn’t that deep and the chilli sauce helped with adding some extra depth and sourness to cut the meatiness. I just had hoped the spices in the lamb came through more. I think when I go again, I would rather a curry or have this with a the daal which I also didn’t get to try today due to my limitations.”

“was invited by my colleague there as it is very close to my house. That was very convenient for me.I am familiar with Indiraj dishes but not that much. They are very famous usually with mixture of spices and herbs.Therfore,I am always very careful to choose which of the foods is suitable for me.. In here,They were very professional and very well standardised. It was obvious that they are part of the big group or chain here.Ambiance was very shining and luxurious, service was ok ,taste was really good. The only thing I can say is it is little pricey.Thats all. Overall,I can recommend this.”

“This was my first visit to Dishoom, and it certainly lived up to the hype to some extent. We ordered several dishes, but three of them really stood out. The Chicken Berry Britannia Biryani was the clear winner. It was incredibly flavourful, and the sweet bursts from the berries elevated the biryani to another level. I would definitely recommend ordering it. While I felt the chicken itself could have been a little more richly spiced, the biryani as a whole more than made up for it. The Chilli Cheese Toast was another highlight. It’s amazing how such a simple dish can deliver such bold, satisfying flavours. It’s an absolute must-order and something I’d recommend for every table. The restaurant’s signature Salli Boti Lamb left me with mixed feelings. The curry was delicious, and the crispy potato salli added a wonderful texture and flavour. The lamb itself was exceptionally tender, but I felt it hadn’t absorbed enough of the curry’s spices. As a result, it tasted more like plain lamb served with a flavourful curry rather than the spices being infused into the meat. Overall, these were the three dishes that stood out most from everything we ordered. The atmosphere and service were absolutely top-notch. The staff were attentive, the ambience was warm and inviting, and I had a wonderful dining experience. I’d happily return to try more of the menu.”
