About Coffee and Cones

Coffee and Cones is a coffee shop in London at 58 Fieldgate St, pairing Square Mile Red Brick coffee with ice cream made in-house. The coffee shake anchors the drinks list, and the ice cream appears in flavours such as brown bread alongside a wider milkshake range. Dessert runs to waffles, brownies, cakes and tarts, with a pistachio waffle among them. Ice cream also goes into hot chocolate, and a strawberry sundae arrives in a glass. Tea drinkers can choose from a list that includes chai and karak, so the menu covers more than coffee and sweets. The kitchen works from a menu of eight dishes. Most seating is downstairs and holds 40, with a smaller entrance area upstairs.

Customer Review Summary

Milkshakes draw the most mentions, with the Oreo milkshake topped with whipped cream described as thick, creamy and full of flavour. Close behind is the ice cream, where one group tried brown bread, apple crumble, salted caramel and honeycomb, and another praised the ice cream hot chocolate. Reviewers also single out the nutty pistachio waffle, the brownies and a moist chocolate fudge cake, while the carrot cake ran sweeter than one reviewer liked and the tiramisu could be better. Service is repeatedly called friendly and welcoming, including by a family of 15, and the downstairs seating is preferred to the small, tight entrance area. The complaints are specific. One reviewer's strawberry milkshake arrived watery and without the sweets staff had agreed to add, and another found the teas small and the milk cake too creamy. One reviewer notes that eating the fudge cake in the shop means it comes topped with chocolate and whipped cream.

“Quaint place with a better downstairs sitting area as the enterance part is too small and too tight fitting. . Ordered various teas and karak teas as well as milk cakes. Disappointed the size of teas. But milk was really nice, too much cream but overall it was good. Service with smile would be good (maybe I could them on a bad day).”

“I’ve come here multiple times and it’s never disappointed. Great location, a minute from ELM. An assortment of deserts and beverages are available. On this occasion I went with their ice cream hot chocolate. Beautifully pairing of the shot and cold and a great way to warm up during the UK winter. I also tried the carrot cake which ran a little sweeter than I’d like if I’m being honest and I prefer a more spongy/juicy batter. Other than that not bad. Ambience here as always is great. Would recommend if you’re looking for a nice spot to catch up over chai/sweet treats.”
