About Coqfighter

Coqfighter is a chicken restaurant at 3 Caledonian Rd in London, where the fried chicken is made in-house. The wings lead the menu, with laksa butter wings as the signature sauce and a platter that brings several sauces together on one order. Sandwiches and subs sit alongside them, and the chicken burger is now made with chicken breast rather than thigh. Loaded fries and mash and gravy fill out the sides, and a house cherry soda is on the drinks list. The restaurant has a second site at St Pancras, and tables can be reserved online.

Customer Review Summary

Chicken sandwiches draw the most praise, with reviewers naming the original fried chicken sandwich, a chicken breast burger that won back one returning diner, and a chicken caesar sub. Close behind are the wings: a wing platter where each sauce has its own personality, huge crunchy wings, and laksa butter wings paired with the house cherry soda. Loaded fries, mash and gravy, and cheesy corn come up as sides worth ordering. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and helpful, with one server helping a traveller with a suitcase and another walking a first-timer through the menu. The complaints are about value and execution. One reviewer found the sub looked rushed and called the service charge on top of premium pricing cheeky, and their drink arrived late. Another was disappointed that a Spice Bag special sandwich had far less chips, sauce and filling than the photos showed. A few mention the pricier side and the service charge. One online reservation did not go through, yet the party was seated straight away.

“First of all let me start off by saying that i have never visited a Coqfighter establishment before in my life but my goodness have Klara and Arlen rocked my world and set the bar for this place so high. As soon as i walked in, i was greeted with the utmost hospitality and they made me feel as if i was a VIP regular. They quickly explained the menu to me, saving me from overstimulation, and recommended that i try the chicken caesar sub and wow is it to die for! A little bit of a messy eat but you got to get stuck in for the good things in life, and the flavours were 10/10. I also ordered their house cherry soda which was the perfect palette cleanse and cut through the complex flavour of the laksa butter wings, all complimenting each other in trilateral harmony. I don’t want to ramble on but just know, if you’re in the area, these lot sure know how to brighten your day. Made my solo date that much better! Will definitely be in again for that house roast chicken. Thank you!”

“I feel bad leaving three stars but I was just genuinely disappointed with the food. I had come to catch the end of the Spice Bag special though the sandwich I got didn’t match up with what I’d seen in the pics or on socials. I was expecting a lot more chips, sauce and filling in general.”

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very Late Review – Coqfighter in Central London! This is such a late review and one that’s long overdue. I forgot how much I used to enjoy this place, but going through old photos reminded me it’s well worth writing about. Whenever I’m in central London for work, I make it a point to pop into Coqfighter for something quick, grubby and satisfying. I tried the wings (they’re huge, super crunchy and packed with flavour), the loaded fries (generously topped and really tasty), and the buffalo chicken burger (juicy, spicy, and messy in the best way possible). Everything was nicely cooked, filling, and hit the spot exactly when I needed it. The food is consistently good and you can’t really complain about the taste or quality. Just be aware it’s a little on the pricier side (plus they add a service charge), so if you’re looking for something super cheap this might not be the spot. But for the quality and convenience in this location, it’s worth it. The staff are friendly and the place has a cool, casual vibe that makes it easy to grab a quick meal. Address: 3 Caledonian Rd, London N1 9DX Overall, you can’t go wrong with Coqfighter. If you’re in central London and fancy some really good chicken, wings or burgers, I would definitely recommend stopping by. Just a heads-up: parking is very difficult in this area. I strongly suggest travelling by train or tube instead. Good luck if you’re driving!”

“Stopped at Coqfighter in St Pancras and had a great experience. Arlen was incredibly kind and helped me with my suitcase, got me seated quickly, and made the whole visit feel easy and enjoyable. Service like that really stands out when you’re travelling.”

“The Food & Presentation: The flavors were definitely there. The sub was rich, cheesy, saucy, and had a great peppery bite. However, I was disappointed with the presentation of the sub. It didn't look very well presented and frankly looked rushed together, which took away from the overall experience. When you're paying for a premium meal, you expect it to look as good as it tastes - and then to charge service charge on top is cheeky. The Service: To add to that, the service was off. I wasn't served my drink on time at the start, meaning I was stuck eating a very rich, savoury meal without anything to drink for a while. Verdict: The kitchen knows how to season food, but they need to slow down and focus on the presentation and service timing.”
