  “This used to be one of our favourite matcha spots in London, and we'd actually visited today with the intention of buying a tin of their powder, but after the poor quality of the drinks we ordered today we won't be going back. Normally the drinks have a strong matcha taste and the flavours are well balanced, even when the ingredient combinations are more unusual. We ordered a Spanish matcha latte and an iced chocolate matcha. Firstly both drinks we were given were iced (even though the Spanish matcha latte wasn't ordered as iced), but we thought it's fairly hot today so that didn't bother us enough. The actual issue was that the taste of the matcha in both drinks was extremely weak. The Spanish matcha was such a pale green it looked like a matcha from a chain coffee shop rather than the dark green we normally receive here and you could barely taste it in the drink (I mean seriously look how pale it is in the photo, and that's darker than it looked in real life too!). The chocolate matcha had zero taste of matcha whatsoever, I'm genuinely wondering whether they forgot to add it, or added much less than normal. We've had both drinks before and really enjoyed them because they had a strong matcha flavour alongside the chocolate/condensed milk. Overall, we were so disappointed in the drinks that we decided not to buy the powder. We travel specifically to How Matcha from elsewhere in London and have really been put off coming back if we risk getting drinks like we got today again (especially for the price point). We've loved the unique flavours and colabs in the past, so this really disappointed us, have you changed how much matcha you use?”

  “Okay, I am a Melbourne coffee gal, but matcha cafés have exploded all over London, so one must try. I was recommended the Chocolate Matcha 🍵. My mind was initially saying, “No, no, no,” but after being convinced that it is a beautiful 65% dark chocolate cocoa with a half pump of French vanilla (I went less sweet), oat milk, and ceremonial-grade matcha, I decided to give it a try. And let me tell you, my taste buds said, “Yeah, yeah, yeah!” This was the perfect 3 PM pick-me-up without the caffeine rush that would mean I might not sleep that well later tonight. The flavour is deep, earthy, and not overly sweet. It was warming on a cold London afternoon as I looked for a break from the chilly wind. Maybe I am a Melbourne matcha gal (when in London anyway) 🍵🇬🇧”
