About Holy Smokes BBQ London

Holy Smokes BBQ London is a barbecue restaurant at 26 Eleanor St in London, set under old railway arches in an industrial-estate-style spot near a train station. The menu leads with smoked brisket, served in a bun or on its own. Beef rib comes for those who want a plate of meat rather than a sandwich. The dirty fries are loaded with brisket, coffee gravy and chillies, and a run of burgers rounds out the list. The restaurant is walk-in. Wings and sausages are also on offer for ordering alongside the brisket and ribs.

Customer Review Summary

Brisket is what reviewers return to most, described as tender, juicy and not dry, whether in the smoked brisket bun, on the bone, or piled onto loaded fries with coffee gravy. Close behind are the beef rib and short rib, which several say fall straight off the bone, along with dirty fries and burgers such as the Texas burger with its mustard and the smash burger. Portions are called huge, and a few describe the gherkins on the side as a highlight. The main complaint is finding the place. Reviewers say map apps pointed to the wrong spots, one reporting being sent to a nearby caravan community. One reviewer found the brisket decent but unmemorable, called the burger small for its price without fries, and raised concerns about cleanliness and hygiene. Most describe a takeaway spot under railway arches with a few tables outside, delivery drivers collecting orders, and polite staff who carried food out to the table.

“The beef rib was absolutely incredible, easily one of the best I’ve had in London. Super tender and juicy, with a deep smoky flavour, and the meat practically fell off the bone. The portion was huge too. Definitely worth coming here just for the beef rib!”

“I visited Holy Smokes Barbecue with high expectations after it was recommended by a friend, but unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The brisket was decent, although not particularly memorable. I also had some concerns about the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the venue. My biggest disappointment was the burger. At £8, with no fries included, I felt it was quite expensive for the size of the burger. The patty was much smaller than I expected, and overall it did not feel like good value for money. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I don’t think I would return. I hope the restaurant can improve the overall cleanliness and offer better value for money.”

“This is my second time visiting Holy Smokes BBQ London and it absolutely didn’t disappoint. I ordered the smoked brisket bun, the 7-hour smoked brisket on the bone, dirty fries and a drink, and the food was outstanding. The brisket was easily some of the best I’ve ever had. The meat was incredibly tender, practically melting in your mouth and falling straight off the bone. Portion sizes are very generous too and you could quite easily get full from just one portion. Service was friendly and quick, and at £44 for everything (pic is missing the bun and drink) I thought it was excellent value for money considering the quality and quantity of food. It’s tucked away in a slightly industrial estate-esque location underneath some old railway arches, which actually gives it quite a cool, laid-back feel. There are three benches out the front with plenty of seating, although I could imagine it getting pretty packed during a busy lunchtime. Definitely somewhere I’d recommend if you’re into a proper smoked BBQ. This was my second visit and it certainly won’t be my last!”

“The best thing to eat in my opinion was the loaded fries because I think they make fries very well and the sauce that went on the fries made it fantastic. One thing to note, I think Google Maps needs to be updated, I was initially taken to the Gypsy/Traveller caravan community. The restaurant is where the blue dot is, not where the red marker is.”
