Customer Review Summary
Diners most frequently single out the pie of the day and belly pork as standout dishes, with several also praising the passion fruit martinis and the happy hour drinks. Close behind, reviewers highlight the generous portions and hearty, well-cooked meals that leave them satisfied. However, a recurring complaint centers on long waits for food, with multiple accounts of mains taking over an hour and starters arriving late, often without communication or apology. Several also report issues with food quality, naming the Caesar salad as watery, the burger as basic with thin patties and cheap cheese, and the Sunday dinner as a disappointment. Service problems are frequently cited, including slow or inattentive staff, incorrect bills, and tables not being wiped down. One reviewer describes undercooked steak sent back only to return the same, while another notes a hair found in the coleslaw, which was replaced with a complimentary drink. A few mention the atmosphere as flat when the pub is quiet, though it improves as it fills up.

“Came here tonight for dinner and sadly had a very poor experience. The venue is nice, and the staff are very friendly (but slow) but that’s where the positives end. We booked a table and when we arrived it wasn’t overly busy. We ordered a burger and a salad with a side and it took 50 minutes for our food to arrive for just two simple dishes. We weren’t told that food might be a while so had to check in to make sure our food was actually on its way. The lettuce in the Caesar salad was still watery and the overall taste was pretty average. The burger was not great either - a basic bun, two small thin patties, one slice of cheap American cheese slapped on top which at £15.95 is far too expensive for the low quality of the food and we’ve had much better elsewhere for the same price point. It was extremely hot inside. We were told to pay at the bar, and ended up standing there being ignored for over 10 minutes. We complained and were able to instead pay where you’re welcomed which should have been what we were told to do to begin with. Our experience overall was very poor, and we wouldn’t come back here again.”

“Came here for my Mum's birthday while staying at Tattershall lake. We waited 1 hour 20 minutes for our mains, after waiting a long time already for our starters. No apology, no body came to inform us where the food was or when it would …”

“Visited this place today as two couples. Walked to the bar and wasn’t redirected to entrance to wait for a table. The waiter then pretended to scroll the booking system when they were multiple empty tables and sat us down. After waiting 15 minutes someone approached us and said ‘hi, sorry ive forgotten what i need to ask you’ and one of us had to finish his sentence off for him. (He was the team leader by the way). We then said we hadnt decided and he said he would return. After another 15 minutes we had to go to the bar to asked to be served even though staff were just stood about. Someone then attended and for some reason barely recognised the menu. We ordered our food and was recommended the sunday dinner which ended up being a massive mistake. After 1 hour the food arrived without cutlery and i had to chase staff down for it. This is not to mention the couple beside us that seemed to be on drugs constantly mentioning them and pacing around. Finally when getting the bill they added on extra things and we had to correct this ourselves with barely an apology. I would not recommend this place, thank god we have patience. Another group may not. Avoid!”

How this listing is sourced
- Where the data comes from
- Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
- How it stays current
- Every listing is re-checked on a recurring crawl, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
- How it is ranked
- Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
