About York Road Fisheries & Pizza Bar
York Road Fisheries & Pizza Bar sits at 350 York Rd in Leeds, a traditional chip shop whose counter also runs as a small restaurant. The range stretches well beyond the fryer, so a straightforward order of fish, chips and scraps sits alongside sides like stuffed jalapeños and potato scallops, giving groups with different tastes one place to order from. Service works on a walk-in basis, with orders placed and paid for at the counter rather than booked ahead. Delivery is available through Uber Eats for anyone eating at home or at work. High chairs are on hand for families arriving with young children. The shop trades Monday to Saturday and stays closed on Sundays.

What reviewers say
Reviewers most often mention fish and chips, huge portion sizes, crispy batter and chunky chips.
Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the fish, describing it as flaky and enormous, with crispy batter right to the edge, and several mention portions big enough to feed two. Chunky chips, a sausage bap, a kebab and stuffed jalapeños also get named, and delivery orders are said to arrive hot, fresh and well packaged. Staff are described as polite, friendly and helpful in old-fashioned style, and one diner who ordered near closing was given free potato scallops. One reviewer suggests asking for extra salt. The complaints are specific. Two reviewers found the food poor: one describes soggy fish in a thick, greasy batter with some raw chips, and another found tough, dry fish and dry, tasteless chips on two separate visits, with a veggie burger that did not taste fresh. One reviewer also reports being violently ill after eating there. Another calls the fish and chips good for the price though not the best they have had.

“I shall not be getting chips from here again because I couldn’t eat them…..the reason why I couldn’t eat them was because the fish was fookin massive!!!! 1st time I’ve got from here in 35yrs & best fish I’ve had in god knows how long, right up to the end of the batter on both sides. Fabulous.”
