Quick info
About Trattoria Il Forno
Trattoria Il Forno is an Italian restaurant at 85 Town St in Leeds, built around pizzas cooked in a wood fire. The pizzas come giant, and a half-and-half option lets one pie carry two toppings, such as margarita and pepperoni. Portions are big enough that leftovers get boxed up to take home. Garlic dough balls and a mozzarella and prosciutto starter open the meal, and carbonara covers the pasta side of the menu. Reservations are required. The seating area has been expanded over the years.

Customer Review Summary
Pizza is the main draw, with reviewers praising the wood fired pies, the great dough, and a giant half and half margarita and pepperoni big enough to box up and take home. The carbonara, garlic dough balls and a mozzarella and prosciutto starter come up close behind. Service earns warm mentions, from a waitress whose sense of humour lifted one diner's day to a manager credited with making the meal run smoothly. One reviewer finds tables still difficult to get, and another advises booking in advance for a busy Sunday teatime. The sharpest complaint comes from a party of eight at a birthday dinner who say staff cleared plates, stacked chairs on tables and turned off the music before they had finished, with no one left to serve dessert. They refused the service charge and say the manager only apologised. One reviewer feels the decor needs a facelift. Another birthday group of eight was given a glass of fizz, birthday napkins and a free pudding.

“Great food and service. 100% recommended and will absolutely be going back! The atmosphere/decor could do with a facelift to make it more cosy but that's just me being really picky. Great for large groups.”

“I was having a bad day until I came to this place. The food was good—I got it quickly, and it was hot and tasty. The waitress made my day better :) I thought people with that kind of sense of humor no longer existed. Only people like that should work in places like this! I haven’t laughed like that in a long time. To Ms. J. – thank you :) after leaving, I was still laughing for about 15 minutes. I recommend this place—tasty food and great service!”

“Excellent service and good. Booked for 8 of us for a 60th birthday. They provided a glass of fizz, birthday napkins and a free pudding. Our colleague felt so special and celebrated. There were all clear plates, everyone raved about the food 10/10. & the service was exceptional. Very attentive. Absolutely excellent. Will be back.”

“We had such a lovely experience at Ilforno! The food was absolutely delicious – fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. The atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed meal. A special thank you to Anna, the manager, who made everything run so smoothly. Her attention to detail and genuine care for customers really stood out. It’s rare to feel so well looked after! We’ll definitely be coming back and recommending Ilforno to friends and family. 🌟”
