About LIVIN'ITALY
LIVIN'ITALY is an Italian restaurant, bar and deli in Leeds, on Granary Wharf under the railway arches beside the Leeds-Liverpool Canal. The room sits inside a train bridge tunnel, so trains can be heard passing overhead. The kitchen serves tapas-style starters with homemade focaccia, and the Nonna's Meatballs arrive in a baked ciabatta bowl with smoked scamorza and tomato sauce. Fresh pasta includes a beef ragu, and the pizza list runs to one topped with smoked ham speck, spicy salame spianata and stracciatella mozzarella. The drinks list covers Italian wines and cocktails. It is open daily, with breakfast in the morning and cocktails with music in the evening.

Customer Review Summary
Pasta draws the most praise, with reviewers singling out the beef ragu and a pasta in cheese as fresh, full of flavour and authentic. Pizzas come next, described as light and fluffy, including one topped with speck, spicy salame spianata and stracciatella. Others name the meatballs in a baked ciabatta bowl with smoked scamorza, tapas-style cured meats with homemade focaccia, and the tiramisu, alongside a good selection of Italian wines. The setting inside a train bridge tunnel earns comment too, with one diner enjoying the occasional train passing overhead and another noting heaters everywhere. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and helpful with ordering. Criticism is light. One reviewer found drinks service slow on a busy sunny afternoon, and another wished the menu included seafood pasta or truffle grilled beef. One party of six, told the restaurant was fully booked, got a callback five minutes later offering a cancelled table.

“I have come here with my friends for a real Italian dinner. As an Italian person I can definitely say this is the best restaurant I have ever tried outside my country. The staff is amazing and the food it’s excellent. I love the local because there are heater everywhere so that you don’t get cold. A 10/10, and off discussion.”

“We recently had the pleasure of visiting Livin’Italy in Leeds city centre and had such a lovely experience overall. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced Italian restaurant in a fantastic central location, this is definitely worth a visit. The restaurant itself is in a really unique setting, tucked inside a train bridge tunnel right in the heart of Leeds, which gives it so much character. There’s something really special about enjoying great food while hearing the occasional train pass overhead — it adds to the atmosphere and makes the experience feel a little different from your typical city-centre restaurant. The interior is beautiful, warm and welcoming, and there is seating available both inside and outside, making it ideal for all kinds of occasions. We started with a selection of tapas-style dishes including the Prosciutto Crudo, Pancetta Coppata and Fontina cheese, all served with homemade focaccia bread and Livin’Italy’s Marsala and caramelised onion chutney. Everything tasted fresh, authentic and full of flavour, and the focaccia paired perfectly with the cured meats and cheese. For mains, we tried Nonna’s Meatballs, which were rich, comforting and packed with flavour, served in a baked ciabatta bowl with melted smoked scamorza cheese and tomato sauce. We also had a pizza topped with smoked ham speck, spicy salame spianata and stracciatella mozzarella, which was delicious with a great balance of flavours. The only slight downside was that drinks service felt a little slow, but it was a very busy afternoon with gorgeous weather in Leeds city centre, so it was understandable and certainly didn’t take away from the overall experience. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would happily return. Great food, lovely atmosphere, unique location and good value for money — a brilliant addition to Leeds city centre dining.”
