Dim sum draws the most praise at Joy's Kitchen, with reviewers singling out the Siu Mai, Ha gaow, Prawn Cheung Fun and Custard Buns as fresh and authentic. Close behind are the Chinese-takeaway-style dishes: salt and pepper aubergine, salt and pepper chicken, Hong Kong style sweet and sour chicken and egg fried rice, plus chicken and sweetcorn soup. Several describe the portions as massive or generous, the room as busy and lively, and the staff as friendly, with one noting a meal arrived within five minutes. Diners also mention taro dumplings and Malay sponge cake, and one praises the beers.

“Was rather disappointed. Walked past it a while ago while shopping in Leeds. Heard good reports about their Headingly restaurant so decided to try it tonight. Wasn't impressed. Felt like I was sitting in a cafe. Quite a few drunks in from all day drinking. Food was take out quality. Would of been disappointed paying £25 for a takeaway but paying £60 left a sour taste. Was busy which you would think is a good sign but not for me. That is just my opinion others will disagree. Got stung for parking so spent £100 for two when it was nothing special”

“Enjoyed a quick meal here before an evening event in Leeds. I thought the food was really excellent, and it came within five minutes, which I particularly appreciated, as I was on an evening deadline. Even so, it was fresh and tasty with sweet and sour and special fried rice. The restaurant was very busy at around 6:00 PM, which is a good sign. All round, I thought this was a very good experience in a new restaurant for me, having eaten out in Leeds for many years in the past. I would happily visit Joy's Kitchen again.”

“Turn up hungry! The biggest challenge was resisting the urge to order the entire menu. Everything we tried was fresh, piping hot, and full of flavour—not a single dish disappointed. The service was friendly, the atmosphere was relaxed, and somehow we still found room to order "just one more." 10/10. Wear stretchy trousers... you'll thank me later.”

“My friend and I swung in to Joy's Kitchen for a pre concert dinner. The service was super friendly and efficient. The place was pretty packed and had a lively vibe even for early teatime on a Tuesday. We chose wisely in terms of smaller number of dishes to share as the portions are massive! The salt and pepper aubergine starter was absolutely on pointe and we could have had just that as full meal. I will certainly be returning.”

“I went with my parents from Hong Kong yesterday. The food was delicious. All tasted very good for my Cantonese pallet.”
