Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often return for the fish and chips cooked the traditional way in beef dripping, with fish described as fresh to order and chips piping hot. The curry sauce comes close behind, called better than most and "unreal" by separate diners, and a fish butty and battered sausage also get mentions. Batter is described as golden and crunchy, and several note the prices came in lower than expected. Staff draw repeated praise as friendly, with a few saying the person serving chatted with everyone while preparing orders. Some call it a proper local neighbourhood chippy and mention it being clean. The complaints are about consistency. One reviewer who bought a large chips received what looked like two small scoops, thin and pale, and was unhappy that the chips were seasoned without being asked. Another found the fish small, overcooked and cold after a short drive home, suspecting it had sat in the warmer. One diner also said the fish was not the biggest but very tasty, while another found the portions really generous.

“Absolutely outstanding fish and chips! Cooked the traditional way in beef dripping, the flavour is incredible and just how proper fish and chips should be! I have coming here for 5 years now and I have not been disappointed. Staff take the time to ask about your day as well as perfecting your order. Fish is always cooked fresh to order and the chips are always piping hot. I would definitely recommend.”

“Saw the good reviews and was in the area so thought I would give this place a go. Wish I hadn't bothered. Male and female working, male didn't even acknowledge me but female was very nice. Ordered large chips, which ended up being 2 small scoops, chips looked anemic, she also seasoned them for me, I prefer to season my own, thanks. Got home, put them in air fryer to brown them a little, very disappointed with the amount. Will stick to my own chippy from now on, at least I know I'm getting a good portion of properly cooked chips.”

“A friendly and popular neighbourhood chippy. I live just over the road and am frequently popping in to get lunch to take away. Clean, friendly, good food, they cook in a traditional way, and the prices are what you would expect. There's nothing not to like !”
