Customer Review Summary
Reviewers split sharply on Mandarin Kitchen, but the most repeated draw is the salt and pepper dishes, with chicken in the box and chips praised by several, though one reviewer found the chips were just frozen ones with chunks of onion, carrot and chilli. Curry comes close behind, with one reviewer calling the chunky beef curry the best they have tasted and another finding the chicken curry rubbery with a lacklustre sauce. Others single out the lamb with satay sauce, duck and peppers in blackbean sauce, crispy beef that wasn't soggy, and ribs, though a different diner found the ribs dry. Staff are described as friendly and polite, including the owner and his son, and some mention food arriving fast and piping hot. The complaints are specific: warmed-up tepid chips, bland curry sauce, prawns that tasted like cement, greasy pancake rolls, egg fried rice with no egg, a forgotten part of an order and dry pork. One reviewer describes an owner arguing with a child who was serving. Even the mixed review still credits the sweet and sour pork and a server who got a seven-person order out hot.

“Had the salt and pepper box, everything was nice, so much chicken in the box too which is a plus. Served fast and food was piping hot.”

“Delightful takeaway. Food was fabulous, very friendly and polite service from the owner and his young son. We ordered our food and then nipped up to The Branch pub for a quick pint. Thoroughly recommend this takeaway 👌”

“Just ordered food for 2. Chips were obviously yesterday's, warmed up, but still tepid. Curry sauce is bland and the prawns taste like cement. Cost £32 for a terrible meal. Avoid.”

“Food was not hot pork was dry forgot part of the order owner was arguing with her kid who was serving the customers”

“Unbelievably tasty lamb with satay sauce. Big slices of lamb, creamy satay sauce with fresh chillis, onions and peppers was honestly the best dish I've ever ordered from a Chinese takeaway. I was sceptical given some of the now dated negative reviews from other people, but the quality of food I received was clearly not negative given my review above. Sad that this isn't my local!”
