Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often praise generous, fresh portions, with several saying one order feeds two or three. Dishes named include crispy shredded beef with boiled rice, special house rice with prawns, vegetable chow mein, beef chow mein, salt and pepper chicken, crispy chicken balls in sweet and sour sauce, and steak-cut chips. Close behind are friendly service, fast service and delivery, and a few mention it as a stop after the ferry. The complaints are specific. One reviewer received cold, greasy food with a tray leaking sauce, a delivery that ran well past the quoted time, and a driver who kept their change. Others question authenticity. One found the curry sauce like mild chicken stock and the fried rice bright yellow without wok hei. A reviewer who lived in China described a duck dish as a mash and har kau served with sweet chilli sauce. Another says the interior could do with fixing up. One delivered order came with complimentary prawn crackers, and one visiting couple saved their leftovers for dinner the next day.

“Best Chinese takeaway on Anglesey in my opinion.”

“Grand quality, but where's the wok hei? A modern twist in Holyhead! I can totally see why this place gets cracking reviews. The quality is grand, everything is fresh, piping hot, and they don't skimp on the portions at all. You get proper steak-cut chips and lovely quality beef and chicken. But for me, it felt like they’re trying to put a modern, clever twist on classic takeaway cooking, and it just went a bit too far down the road. The sauces seemed to be chasing a retro Western vibe rather than that authentic Chinese flavour we all know and love. The curry sauce was more like a mild chicken stock, missing that lovely, complex heat. Then the garlic and chilli sauce had this deep, beefy base that tasted more like a winter casserole, with the actual garlic and chilli only turning up as an afterthought. The fried rice was bright yellow too, clearly coloured with something, though I couldn't spot any saffron. It just made me wonder what the point was. When you order fried rice, you're after that beautiful "wok hei"—that smoky, charred magic from a blazing wok. That's what makes it. Look, they’re clearly busy and the locals seem to love it, so fair play to them. But if you're traveling through Holyhead and fancy a traditional, old-school Anglo-Chinese takeaway, just be aware this is a bit of a different beast. With thousands of visitors passing through the port, it's worth knowing about the modern twist before you spend your hard-earned cash. Grand quality, just a bit of a different flavour profile than you might expect.”

“One of the top two Chinese takeaways I've ever had - we're visiting the area and decided to give it a try. It was so worth it! Each portion is enough for 2-3 people to share and packed full of fresh vegetables (broccoli, carrots, mangetouts, water chestnuts etc). We ordered special house rice that came with juicy prawns and loads of different slices of tender meats and more fresh vegetables. Plus vegetable chow mein that was excellent. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the crispy chicken balls in sweet and sour sauce... And don't forget the chips! This was way too much for just two of us so we'll be having it for dinner tomorrow. £25 for essentially 2 meals for 2 of us is excellent value. Shame we can't return but it's a bit far to travel from Denbigh, even for such excellent tasty cuisine😉 Lady serving was very nice, place was clean and there were locals coming in so it must be good for them too.”

“Helo Ladies and Gentleman, this is your only stop for Chinese/Cantonese in Holyhead. It can't be matched. I know because I've tried. Years ago, they started out as another company, that was well know and their food loved, all day every day. After so long of serving Holyheads community. They ended where they are now. I followed their every move, and after trying all the others, I'm definitely going to state a fact that they are the best. Whatever you want or whatever you fancy, they are at the top of their game. I sincerely recommend Lotus Garden and recognise there complete professional and authentic food they supply. What you see is what you get! What you see, and what you order, is their belief in their customers. Endless customer satisfaction, back by English Food Authorities highest award. Phone and ask! You won't be disappointed....”

“I ordered duck, what I got some digusting mash of duck meat (binned). HarKau and XiuMai was acompanied with some red sweet chilli sauce instead of light soy sauce with some vinegar as supposed to be (sauce gone to the bin). Broccoli with onion was generally tasteless and about 50/50 percentage as onion was used to fill up the box. I was living 12 years in China this is not Chinese food. 我在中国生活了12年,这不是中国菜.”
