Customer Review Summary

Ice cream from the front counter draws the most praise. Reviewers call it out of this world and note a dairy free option for an infant, and the cookies and a milkshake also get a mention. Inside, diners single out the seafood linguini, described as perfectly cooked, along with a huge and tasty mussels dish, a lamb shank falling off the bone, fish and chips, crispy whitebait and a rich mushroom bourguignon. Several describe quick, friendly service even on busy days, nautical memorabilia with boats on the ceiling, and a treat given to dogs. A few say booking is strongly advised, and one saw people turned away on a July evening. The complaints centre on service. One ice cream customer describes a tub slammed on the counter, a till drawer slammed shut and a goodbye ignored during a long queue. Another was served what looked like the kids burger instead of the signature Shanty Burger, and was told it is hard to dress up a burger. That dish was removed from the bill.

“Me and my wife and two dogs had a lovely experience here while visiting Anglesey. They are very accommodating with dogs, even giving them a treat!Note though, that it's dog friendly up until 6pm, which is understandable. The setting was clean and calming, with all sorts of interesting oceanic and exploration memorabilia on the walls and in the rafters. The food was delicious, with generous portion sizes for all three courses and the seafood is top notch. All nice and hot when served. All the staff we encountered were great, but Christelle (sorry if we got the spelling wrong) and Taylah served us and were so lovely and attentive. They also have bluelight discount, which is always a bonus! If we're ever back in Anglesey, we'll be sure to enjoy a meal here again. Superb, really.”

“Came in with my family for a sit down meal and everything was exceptional. Food was high quality and extremely tasty, my brother noted it was the best burger he’d had in a long time and my auntie said she could’ve eaten the seafood linguini 10 times over. Service was really good although I didn’t get her name (she had an Anglesey outline tattoo on her arm) but she was lovely. Would highly recommend this restaurant!”

“Absolutely brilliant restaurant and bar with wonderful nautical theming and decorations. We visited twice in a 3 day stay and the food was excellent both times with quick and friendly service. Booking is strongly advised, especially at peak times of the year. There is a bar and at peak times a seperate outside bar to the side of the venue. An ice cream counter to the front of the restaurant has a huge variety of ice creams to take away in cones or tubs. Parking is in the large public car park next to the Cafe.”

“I popped into this place last minute because the hotel I was staying in nearby was not serving food in the evenings. I was recommended to attend this place which certainly didn’t disappoint me a very busy place lovely friendly staff good selection of menu and the food was outstanding or locally sourced and not badly priced. Parking was easy nearby and will certainly return again. Keep up the woodwork all of you.”

“We only had an ice cream from the lovely ice cream shop, but the overall cafe next to a fantastic beach look like they are well worth a visit - the ice cream was amazing!”
