Reviewers most often single out the home cooked food, with the Sunday roast beef that melts in the mouth and the homemade Steak and Ale Pie with a jug of gravy named as highlights, and Sticky Toffee Pudding as a dessert. Close behind is the welcome, with staff repeatedly described as friendly and helpful, and one family praising how a table for four was found without a booking. “We had a great meal which was delicious and very reasonably priced with plenty on the plate (a bit of a rarity these days) excellent service and a warm and cosy atmosphere. We just wish it was in the village where we live! We will definitely be back the next time we are in the area.”

“A visit to this gem of a pub after been into Holmfirth. A warm friendly greeting as we walked in. Found my self and my partner a table for 2. Drinks ordered and menu provided. Came.bavk to take the order. Did not have to wait to long before enjoying the homemade Steak and Ale Pie, chips and seasonal green veg along with a good jug of gravy. Still had room for a delicious dessert of Sticky Toffee Pudding and vanilla Ice cream. The whole experience from start to finish was excellent”
