Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often praise the breakfast and lunch food, singling out very generous portions and fresh, home-grown produce. Eggs on sourdough, a chargrilled bacon sandwich, a Bakewell blondie, an apple danish glazed with apricot jam and a Pear and Date pudding all get named, and the coffee is called exceptionally good. Close behind is the farm shop, where reviewers mention the deli counter, quiches, sausage rolls, a cheese counter and a salad box with rare beef. Staff are described as friendly, and two reviewers say they made a birthday and an anniversary feel special with a chocolate cake and a card. The caveats are plain. One reviewer found the shop thin, with just a deli counter, a few shelves of oils and sorry looking fresh produce, and did not try the busy cafe. Another says service can run slower and food quality varies a little between visits, and one vegan reviewer felt options were limited. Several mention the shop being a little pricey, and one reviewer notes the restaurant now keeps reduced hours.

“A lovely spot we visit often for lunch and coffee outside with the dogs. The staff are always so friendly, even when service is a little slower than expected. Food quality varies a bit from visit to visit, but it’s never bad. The farm shop is adorable and a lovely place to wander, a little pricey but worth it, and there are outdoor huts featuring local artists that are lovely to explore while you wait. A really charming place overall.”

“I mentioned only as we arrived, that we were there to celebrate our daughter’s 18th birthday…They immediately and gently curated their delivery to make her feel very special - a delicious slice of chocolate cake added at the end for a lovely touch! The food was delicious and the best breakfast I have had in a long while…. Each ingredient seemed to have been cooked with individual attention to bring out the very best flavour… and the portions, were incredibly generous! The presentation on the plate was exactly what you would expect from an establishment that prides itself on the finest quality ingredients, many home-farm grown - just exceptional. We had not been back to Applegarth since before covid - it was beautiful to see that they are still going strong and still maintaining great standards across the board.”

“Lovely new find with a beautiful setting and friendly, smiling staff! Loads of food choices, all homemade.....it's just that if you are vegan you'd struggle, that's why a star has fallen. I imagine they might rustle something up if you asked..... But the food that was had by others was amazing, and the apple danish was out of this world; it was actually glazed with apricot jam, like in the good old days of proper baking! I'd still highly recommend it here, it's well worth a visit if you aren't a vegan ☺️”

“Over the years, Applegarth Farm has changed what it offers. They had grand plans which were sadly hit by the Covid pandemic My wife and I come here mainly to the deli and farm shop. They have a great kitchen that makes nice quiches, sausage rolls, cakes and salads. They also have a decent cheese counter. In addition, there is a nice selection of food and produce including fresh vegetables. A fishmonger comes here on Thursdays The restaurant has now reduced hours but Bucci Pizza and Dylan’s ice cream add food options. In addition, there’s a pet shop and an art gallery onsite”

“We came yesterday for lunch and we are so glad we did, the food was incredible and very generous portions, the waitresses were so sweet and the food really was so fresh and high quality, highly recommend their Pear and Date pudding! Can’t wait to come back”
