Quick info
About Uncle Sami
Uncle Sami is a takeaway and restaurant on Desborough Rd in High Wycombe, serving a doner menu that goes beyond the standard kebab shop lineup. The boss doner and quesadilla doner sit alongside a double skewer kebab and halloumi fries, with Korean spicy rice offered as a side and garlic or chilli sauce to finish. A halal Turkish doner lunch box with chicken shawarma comes with salad, and Turkish tea is served after food. The room takes walk-ins, with no booking needed, and seating is available outdoors as well as inside. A step-free entrance allows access for visitors with mobility needs. It opens every day except Tuesdays. Beyond eating in, orders can be placed for delivery through Uber Eats and Deliveroo, making the menu available to those eating off site.

Customer Review Summary
Kebabs are what reviewers return to most, with several calling the meat well cooked and one naming it the best kebab they have had. The garlic sauce and chilli sauce are described as a must try, and diners also single out the Halal Turkish doner lunch box with its good chicken shawarma seasoning and fresh salad, the boss doner and quesadilla doner, the nuke (filling enough for two) and a Korean spicy rice side that a Korean diner found quite delicious. Staff and owners are repeatedly called friendly and welcoming, the place is described as very clean, and portions and prices are called fair. One diner mentions Turkish tea served after the meal. The complaints are sharp, though. One reviewer found the kebab entirely unseasoned, with watery sauces and unsalted chips. Another, ordering through Uber Eats, reports halloumi fries fried until no cheese was left, a double skewer kebab that was not double, burnt meat, a greasy donna wrap and tomatoes left in a wrap after asking for none. One returning diner still wanted chilli sauce on the nuke.

“I mainly order off them on Deliveroo but went in there tonight and the boys asked me to leave a review on Google. Gladly! oh my gosh best food in high Wycombe. I order from them so regularly. a really good meal, really good quality takeaway food honestly the quality of the chicken, the coleslaw, the salad, the sauce, even the bread. They care about their food. Honestly why would you order from anywhere else?! My fave delivery place x”

“Let me start by saying that the meat is cooked really well and is of decent quality, however that is as good as it gets as this is 💯 the worst kebab I've ever had as it had ZERO SEASONING at all , the sauces was literally water and had zero flavours and the chips had no salt which was a shame as they was good quality skin on fries , on looks of the food u would easily score this a 9/10 however the reality is its not even 1/10 , SEASONING is not the enemy guys this is beyond a joke of bland and such a shame as could have easily been a 9/10 with seasoning , worst kebab in the 🇬🇧 imo”

“Update: came back here recently and tried some of the new items on the menu. The boss doner and quesadilla doner really good, great flavour much better than GDK. Service was excellent, really like the new seating and decor. After seeing the video on tiktok on the nuke, we had to go and try it. Overall service was great the nuke was good very filling and enough for two people to share. Though needed some chilli sauce to make it great. Will definitely go back and try it again.”

“I ordered on Uber eats and the food that turned up was just shocking. Halloumi fries had been fried that much there was no cheese left in them. Double skewer kebab definitely wasn’t a double skewer. The meat was burnt and only come with half a bit of bread. For £17 I was very disappointed. The donna wrap was so greasy I couldn’t eat it. I also asked for no tomatoes in one of the wraps but it turned up with them in. I will definitely not be using this food place again.”
