About Esquires Coffee Guildford
On a parade of shops in a residential area away from Guildford city centre, Esquires Coffee Guildford is a coffee shop at 125 Collingwood Cres. The menu pairs Fairtrade and organic coffees and teas with food for breakfast, brunch, lunch and afternoon tea. Flat whites are among the coffee orders, and the food includes croissants, among them a ham and cheese version. Gluten free cakes are also available for those avoiding gluten. Dogs are welcome, and each one gets a treat or a Puppycino, so a walk with a pet can include a stop for a drink. The shop is open daily.

Customer Review Summary
Coffee draws the most praise, with reviewers singling out fantastic flat whites and a chai tea latte as morning staples. Close behind are the friendly staff and a local neighbourhood feel, with school mums, retirees and laptop workers all mentioned. Food earns credit too, including a ham and cheese croissant, a chocolate and hazelnut croissant, smoothies and a decent selection of gluten free cakes. The food also draws the sharpest complaints. One diner describes burnt toast, dried out bacon and a split, deep fried sausage, all served cold, and another feels robbed over a sourdough sandwich that looked and tasted worse than expected. A parent says the waffles arrived with soft, warm, chopped strawberries unlike the promotional photos, and was told a refund request meant emailing customer service. Another reviewer found staff unwelcoming near closing time, with the door propped open in the cold. Dog owners repeatedly praise how welcoming the cafe is to pets, and one dog looks forward to the treat he gets on every visit.

“Very disappointing experience at the Esquires Boxgrove today. When we placed our order for two waffle dishes, the chef initially came out to say they had run out of strawberries and offered raspberries instead, which we agreed to. After waiting around 30 minutes, she returned with our waffles and then mentioned she had actually found some strawberries at the last moment. Unfortunately, the waffles were extremely disappointing. The strawberries were very soft, cut into tiny pieces, and served warm, which was completely different from what is shown in the promotional photos (fresh strawberries, very misleading advertising). It certainly wasn’t what we expected when ordering. My two daughters barely touched the waffles because the fruit looked and tasted unappetising. I raised the issue with the staff at the time. While they apologised, when I asked for a refund I was told the manager wasn’t present and that I would have to send an email instead to customer service esquiresguildford! Overall, both the quality of the food and the way the situation was handled were very poor. Given the clear difference between the advertised dish and what was actually served, the waffles should not have been served in that condition. Very disappointing experience.”

“Nice cafe but dreadful food. Toast was burnt, bacon was dried out and tiny, sausage was split open and deep fried. Everything was cold. Waste of money. Walked out.”

“Appalling experience at Esquires Boxgrove Guildford today. So unwelcoming, close to rude! Arrived at 4pm and staff made me clearly feel they would prefer to have closed already. And also Started opening the door wide open whilst tidying at 4pm40! Freezing cold. So please either change closing time or stay welcoming and keep same service level till the end!”

“Excellent coffee shop with a real local neighbourhood vibe. All sorts of types frequent Esquires from school mums to retirees and business people on their phones/laptops. Of course, the food/breakfast, coffee and other drinks are great as are the staff who are exceptionally welcoming and friendly. Thoroughly recommended!”

“Loved this coffee shop in Guildford. The place is away from city centre, in a quiet residential locality but still busy on a Saturday afternoon. I liked the vibes of the cafe interior. Food is good, so is the coffee. Parking lot with 90 min free parking for customers.”
