Customer Review Summary
Desserts come up most often, with one reviewer calling the pudding terrific, another describing the desserts as beautiful, and a third noting good desserts are always on offer. Close behind are the mains, with fish and chips named twice, alongside fish pie, cauliflower steak, roast pork dinner and a pie with veg. Starters such as garlic mushrooms and prawn cocktail also get praise. Portions are described as good sized, and several reviewers mention friendly staff, a lovely atmosphere, decent cocktails and the Thursday entertainment. The complaints are specific. One diner found the roast pork gravy a little too salty, and another felt part-peeled, unroasted vegetables let down an otherwise good pie. One reviewer said service was slow with a single staff member taking orders and serving. The most critical account describes long waits, no attention from staff and an undrinkable house Pinot Grigio, which ended with the reviewer carrying the glass to the till to flag someone down and settle the bill.

“The atmosphere and food here were very good, and the menu offered an excellent variety of choices. Unfortunately, our experience with the front-of-house service was severely lacking. We faced incredibly long waits, received no attention from the staff, and found the glass of house Pinot Grigio completely undrinkable. Ultimately, we decided to skip dessert entirely. I had to take our wine up to the till myself just to flag someone down, express my concerns, and settle the bill.”

“Another delicious lunch at the Tilted Barrel. Great village pub and restaurant serving consistently high quality food. Would recommend the Ploughman's lunch, fish pie, fish and chips or cauliflower steak, plus any of the sandwiches. Having said that, I've never had a disappointing meal here, so take your pick from the extensive menu.”
