About The Restaurant at Highfield Blue Diamond
The Restaurant at Highfield Blue Diamond is an English restaurant in Gloucester, set inside a garden centre on Bristol Rd with views over a lake and the surrounding countryside. Staff serve hot meals from the first counter on the left as you enter, with food kept under lights and on hotplates, including cooked breakfasts of eggs, bacon, sausages and toast. Customer Review Summary
Cakes and coffee draw the most praise. One reviewer describes a moist fruit cake full of cherries and a rich, creamy coffee cake alongside a scone, while others come for hot chocolate, sausages from the breakfast menu, or one of the fabulous cooked meals. Reviewers also mention lovely views, comfy seats, a dog friendly room and a menu with hot or cold choices. Counter service is the recurring complaint. Several describe unfriendly or loud and shouty staff, forgotten breakfast items, and a Sunday roast with half baked parsnips and a smaller portion. A group of regulars found breakfast disappointing, with hard yolks on fried and poached eggs, lukewarm bacon that was tough, cold toast, and a chef who declined to cook a fresh egg. Another diner found no vegan cake, jam charged extra with scones, and an extra charge for non-dairy milk. In that breakfast account, toast sent back through the machine came out burnt.

“I came quite often here at Highfield and had a Sunday lunch after shopping. And for four years I really could tell if something's going wrong. A few of months ago it started to be very strange to have a plate with some food on it. The ladies serving at the counter are trying to push some food they realise it won't sell just to get rid of it. I like parsnips and I asked more because I didn't want something else. The lady looked at me like I was asking for the Crown Jewellery. Put two parsnips half baked on my plate and continued looking at me and asking: 'potatoes, Yorkshire?'. She didn't want to give me. I asked for a supplement and they gave me another three in a small bowl. The roast was half done, most probably because they put it late in the oven. What can I say? Every Lords have to wake up late on Sundays! The people behind the counter were unfriendly and tried to get rid of you as quickly as possible. AND I just remembered: probably they look at your face and decide that you do not deserve the same amount of food as the previous customer had. They decided I must eat less! But the price was the same. Well, plus 3 more small parsnips in a bowl! I think they should be reconsider their way of making food and their behaviour towards customers. I was nice, wasn't I?! Well, I'm not n This people were just some cheap ... trying to spoil as much as they could from their good sensed an somehow loyal customers. Maybe a bit of shame would do. But I don't think they have any!”

“Really enjoy calling in and treating myself to a coffee and cake and occasionally one of your fabulous cooked meals. Happy New Year to you all and hope you have a great 2026.”

“We visited on a relatively quiet Wednesday afternoon in the Easter holidays, arriving shortly before 4pm. Pleasantly surprised to see that it wasn't particularly busy, plenty of tables, all of which were clean and tidy and free from dead plates and cups/mugs, which is my pet hate. 3 hot drinks, decaf cappuccino and two hot chocolates, plus a fruit cake (lovely and moist chocked full of fruit and cherries), scone and a piece of coffee cake (very rich and creamie); just over £23. The service was good. Staff cleaning the tables, as we approached closing time at 5pm. Light, bright and airy with comfortable chairs. Level 10 Google reviewer with over 1,200 reviews with 2 million views plus 14,000 photos with more than 60 million views and still going strong 💪. Check out my other reviews 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟.”

“Not a single vegan cake option among 10+ on offer. Scones (at £3 each) come with no jam, that's extra. They also charge extra for non-dairy milk whilst many places dropped this approach in favour of plant-based advocates. It feels like a cafe from the 70s with prices from the 2030s... Oh yes, and the coffee was below average too.”
