About Buck’s Bar Southside
Buck's Bar Southside is an American restaurant and rock'n'roll bar in Glasgow, at 1021 Cathcart Rd. The kitchen specialises in free range buttermilk fried chicken and Nashville hot chicken, which gives chicken lovers a focused menu, including a Nashville hot chicken burger. Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the chicken burger, with the Nashville hot chicken burger described as well seasoned with a nice spice, and several calling the burgers huge and the portions massive. Close behind are the sides and starters: salt and chilli fries, buffalo wings, very spicy wings, and mac and cheese. Dirty sodas and weekday cocktail deals get a mention too, along with a lively vibe. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, with one diner getting a seat at the bar on a busy Metallica night without a reservation. One reviewer suggests booking in advance before a Hampden gig. The one detailed complaint came from a collection customer who was refused a seat inside to eat an online order despite many empty tables, and who found the food thrown into takeaway boxes and poorly presented. Another group celebrating a birthday were handed a free donut.

“Brilliant place for a nice chicken burger and great vibes. I sat at the bar and was seen to by both Louise and Paolo. Service was very efficient with one of them checking in regularly. The burger itself was massive and definitely worth the money. A great choice of drinks, I went for one of the dirty sodas. Will definitely be back!”

“Great venue before a gig at Hampden (book in advance). Food and staff on point as usual and they had Metallica playing on the speaker before the gig also.”

“I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Bucks Bar South. I placed an order for collection through the website and, upon arriving to collect it, politely asked if I could sit inside and eat my meal. I was informed that this was not permitted because the order had been placed online, despite the restaurant being virtually empty with numerous available tables. While I understand that businesses may have policies regarding online orders, the situation was handled with very little flexibility or consideration for the customer. Given that there was no obvious operational reason preventing me from sitting in, the decision felt unnecessarily rigid and left me feeling unwelcome. Good customer service is often about applying common sense and demonstrating a willingness to accommodate reasonable requests where possible, and unfortunately that was lacking on this occasion. The food itself was equally disappointing. The presentation was noticeably below the standard I have previously experienced at Bucks Bar. The meal appeared rushed and carelessly assembled, with items seemingly thrown into the takeaway boxes rather than being prepared and packaged with the level of attention expected from an established restaurant. Presentation is an important part of the overall dining experience, and the condition of the food upon collection suggested a lack of quality control and attention to detail. What makes this experience particularly frustrating is that Bucks Bar has built a strong reputation for quality food and customer service. On this occasion, neither met the standards that customers have come to expect. The combination of inflexible customer service, a lack of hospitality, and poorly presented food resulted in an experience that fell well short of expectations. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and reviews both its customer service approach and food preparation standards. Customers should feel valued and welcomed, and the quality of the food should consistently reflect the reputation that Bucks Bar has worked hard to establish.”
