Customer Review Summary
Staff draw the most praise, described as friendly and attentive but not overbearing. One family was given ice cream and miniature prosecco for their birthdays, and another diner got a master class in using chopsticks. Close behind is the duck and pancakes, which one regular calls perfectly cooked, along with a mix of starters and a Sunday buffet that left one diner very full. Another reviewer notes the all you can eat option is ordered from the menu, with no buffet. A few mention a large menu, clean restrooms and tables spaced nicely apart.

“Once again we had a lovely meal tonight, Egg fried rice wasn't as good as before but a delicious meal. Staff were attentive and we had a master class on how to use chopsticks. I'm still not good at it. Worth the visit for that special occasion.”

“Been using Lucky Star since the day before it opened as Bon East, what, 25 years ago? It has had its ups and downs over the years, but tonight's takeaway was just so disappointing and not value for money. The most disappointing was the Seafood starter that cost £33 for 2 people. Picture attached. This is for 2 people. Previously you got twice this amount. OK, it's a starter, but the quantity has gone down and the price has gone up. Prawn toast overdone as well. I always take the crispy duck out of the bag as soon as we are through the door and never been as issue, but to no avail with tonights soggy duck (pic attached) and consequently, I was unable to eat my most favourite part, the crispy skin. The smoked shredded chicken that used to be one of the star dishes and quite dry with bits of spring onion and chilli, is now a soggy mass of onion and chilli and a little bit of chicken, that ends up getting very soggy. Positives...takeaway ready on time, the chicken fried rice was nice and was a good portion and nice chips. Not sure if it's a new chef or something as the basics were OK, but the excellence you used to go to Lucky Star for was just not there and definitely not worth £70 for what we got.”

“My family and I had an amazing meal here. The staff were all outstanding. My daughter and I were given ice cream and miniature procesco to celebrate our birthdays, such a lovely token. It you want top quality food , relaxed atmosphere and friendly and accommodating staff , this is the restaurant to come to: highly recommend!”

“Lucky Star is a hidden gem for authentic Chinese food! It’s usually very quiet when dining in, but it’s absolutely worth visiting—especially on Sundays for the buffet. We always go all in on the starters, getting a mix of everything before moving on to the duck and pancakes, which are always perfectly cooked and delicious. The food arrives hot and fast, and the staff are super kind, always on hand for refills or clearing up. We’ve been coming here for years and will definitely keep coming back! Highly recommend.”

“I went with my sister 2 hours ago to get a takeaway, just interested in chinese for my family. The staff were quite nice except a lady with glasses giving my little sister rude looks. The food was around 10/15 mins. We ordered the chicken chow main, sweet and sour chicken and special fried rice. When we finally ate the chicken chow main it was the nicest thing out of the three but was quite dry. The fried rice was not nice at all along with the sweet and sour chicken. If tasted like something was off and left a weird after taste in our mouths, I am not coming here again! Due to the amount I spent and how much I love chinese food is the reason why i’m reviewing, for others coming to uni and trying new places in Farnham just look out.”
