Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the chicken tikka curry, with one calling it the best they have had and another praising the chicken tikka masala alongside soft, fresh naan. Crisp poppadoms with good chutneys, raita and pickles come up repeatedly, and one detailed account covers a coconut naan, a Beef Vindaloo made with Naga chilli, and okra and spiced pumpkin sides. Staff are described again and again as welcoming, friendly and attentive, and several reviewers like the decor and relaxed atmosphere. Not everyone is won over. One diner called the food average, citing a daal with too much garlic and paneer that was oddly pink, while others mention coconut rice served wet with water at the bottom of the bowl, food a bit low on protein, poor orange juice, air conditioning switched on late and no high chairs. Reviewers also recall the after dinner chocolate and Turkish delight served in a bowl of dry ice with hot water poured over it, and a warm mini towel brought at the end of the meal.

“I keep on refusing to go to eat Indian food because in general I find the offerings substandard or greasy or lacking in protein or heavy or all of the above. I booked our table at Le Raj a few weeks ago mainly for my husband, who loves Indian food. Much better than your average Indian restaurant but not as good as Rawalpindi in Twickenham used to be is how I would put it. A lovely place for intimate dinners or celebrations with anyone you love. Nice decor and good service. The French house white wine was none too shabby. If you're not drinking, you can keep the cost down. Still a bit low on the protein and the orange juice was very poor quality. The aircon should have been turned on sooner. All my clothes will be aired and then if not better have to go into the wash tonight. Worth a trip out into the suburbs? Yes to feel a bit spoiled. I would not say the food was mind-blowing but it was perfectly pleasant with nice flavours and not swimming in grease like the meals served in some establishments.”

“I had an absolutely outstanding experience at Le Raj. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and beautifully designed, striking the perfect balance between comfort and elegance. The service was exceptional. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, genuinely friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do. What impressed me most was the consistency across everything: food, service, and ambiance were all top-tier. It’s rare to find a place that gets every element just right. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. I’ll definitely be returning soon!”
