  “We came here on Friday 21/8/2026 at 8.15pm We ordered the Butchers block but one of our party doesn’t eat Bone Marrow we asked if we could swap it out for a chicken breast and after our fantastic server went to ask if they could do this the kitchen flatly refused (something to do with stock levels been out) So beef brisket bone marrow is around £8.95 and a chicken breast around a couple of quid 🤦‍♀️ if that…makes me laugh that if I’d ordered the Caesar salad all the risotto I could have added said chicken breast to those 🤦‍♀️😬 it’s not like I wanted to swap it out for a Chateaubriand We were offered ribs in place not rib eaters but must admit they were nice Next came the wedge this had to be sent back because of bugs in it we were sent another one out to yet again be full of bugs I cannot lie the rest of the food was cooked to perfection 👍🏻 Time to go visit the ladies room and as I got to the door the smell of urine from the ladies toilet nearly knocked you over 😢 100% hope they sort their problems out So now for the best bit we had fantastic servers who was so apologetic They were Kateryna , Callum and their manager Chris These were absolutely amazing members of the team well done you three xxxxxx”

  “Everything about the meal was amazing, we had the Butcher Block sharing experience. Everything about it was excellent. What made it even better was the service. From the time we walked in at the door AND especially at the table. Kateryna was the best!!!!!”

  “I had been here once before and wasn’t overly impressed. I still find the selection of menus and options far too extensive and complicated. I had a gift voucher to use before a gig at the castle so we gave it a try, I was surprisingly impressed with both the quality of food, drinks and service. Overall a great experience.”

  “The service from the staff was great, they were very nice but the speed of the food service was very very slow, we were there over an hour before getting our mains and over half an hour between the starters and the mains. The quality of the food was overall great but certain things like the greens and the chicken were dry and unflafourful. Especially the greens they were cooked with no butter or anything just dry, on the other hand the lamb was lovely and the steak was seasoned great, the beef dripping gravy and the mash were also lovely. Overall an ok experience but nothing major that would draw me back in.”

  “Came here for my birthday dinner. It took a little while to be served initially but once we were everything fell into place. The steak came out quickly and was tasty. Our waiter was also very friendly.”

  “We had a good experience overall at this steak restaurant. The food was really nice. Our steaks were well cooked, flavourful, and the sides complemented them well. The atmosphere was also pleasant when we first arrived. However, as the restaurant started to get busy, the service slowed down and we felt a bit forgotten. One small disappointment was that we mentioned it was our little one’s birthday. It was even noted in our reservation, and the waiter kindly offered to bring a birthday dessert. She agreed, but it never came. We understand it got busy and she looked quite rushed, so we didn’t want to remind her but it would have been nice if it had been remembered, especially since it was already noted and offered. Overall, the food was good and we enjoyed our meal, but service consistency particularly during busy times could be improved to make the experience even better.”

  “We walked past this place on our first night in Edinburgh. Saw someone having the stuffed bone marrow and that caught our eyes. Came back on our second night to treat ourselves to something fancy. 30 days aged ribeye was done perfectly. The fried onions served with it was just amazing. We went with the camembert mashed potatoes (+£2), I would skip it in future. (£37.75 + £2) Lamb was done nicely. Jus was sweeter than we liked. Mash was simple and definitely better than the camembert mash with our ribeye. Broccolini was a bit over done in my opinion. (£27.95) Lobster mac and cheese…ORDER THIS. 💯💯 huge chunks of lobster meat with every bite of the mac & cheese. (£9.95) Stuffed bone marrows looked nicer than it tasted. (£8.75) We had a bottle of 2024 Chilean Merlot (£32.50) as well. Total bill amounted to £118 Overall, very pleasant dinner with the missus. Would come back again for special occasions if we are in Edinburgh.”

  “One of our bus tour operators recommended Miller & Carter Steakhouse as a great option for a nicer, fancier (and pricier) dinner. I’ll start by saying the restaurant is very nice inside with beautiful wood and decor, and lovely mood lighting. The food was also very good. However, we were not thrilled about the initial wait and seating. The restaurant didn’t seem very busy (there were tons of empty tables, yet our wait time was quite long). They also seemed annoyed that we were walk-ins, with no reservation, yet it seemed like others walked in (I believe without a reservation) and were seated before us. When we did get seated, our server was friendly and helpful. We opted for the Valentine’s Set Menu, which included a 3-course meal for each of us. We selected the Chargrilled XO King Prawns and the Sticky Chipolotle Chicken. After deciding on the apps, we picked our steaks (a filet for the wife and a Wagyu Ribeye for myself). The apps were really good and the steaks were excellent. I always order medium rare for my steaks but mine came back pretty rare. The steaks came with an option of sides (we each chose the fries), and a wedge salad. Those were good too, but the steaks were the highlight. And the Million Dollar Chocolate Fondant for dessert was the cherry on top. The steaks were great, and the restaurant nice, but definitely pricey. I think if we’d showed up with a reservation, maybe the initial service/seating would have been better. All in all, I’d say Miller & Carter Steakhouse would be good for a special occasion, but I’d definitely recommend making a reservation.”

  “Lovely experience, the food was amazing (especially the sharing Cote De Boeuf steak, and the Soy and Mirin Pork Belly) atmosphere and service were fantastic. We visited from Ireland, and once again went to Miller & Carter in Edinburgh for the second time. Our server, Inaki happened to be the same gentleman as the first time around. Inaki, remembered us from about 6 months prior and provided excellent service, and made us feel so welcome. Our first visit was our Anniversary and he made the occasion very special. Inaki is a credit to the Miller & Carter family. We will definitely be back again soon, and hopefully we will see him once more.”
