About The Gingerbread Café
The Gingerbread Café is a cafe in Eastbourne, set in Gildredge Park beside a playground, with a large open green in view. Customer Review Summary
Coffee is what reviewers praise most at this café in Gildredge Park, with several calling it excellent or a really good roast, and one pointing to the Italian coffee enjoyed on the new decking. Close behind are the homemade paninis and sandwiches served with a side salad, plus the jacket potato and cake. Many mention the park setting, with open green views, seating outside in good weather and a playground next door that suits families, while dog walkers and regulars are said to fill the place. Staff are described as friendly and chatty, bringing food and drinks out to the table. The recurring caveats centre on value and range. One reviewer found a walnut and coffee sponge tasteless and dry for the price of a small slice, another called the hot coffee only OK for what it costs, and a third found the menu not very rich. Several others still call the food and prices reasonable, and one visitor describes reading the paper over coffee and cake in the sun.

“Very cute little cafe in wide open green park - the gildredge park, atmosphere is good and hot drinks are good.”

“Me and my mate Tony stopped off for drinks and a cake. Hot drinks were fine, not so much the cake. Very limited choice, our walnut and coffee sponge cake was tasteless and dry. If you are going to charge £4.50 per small slice you need to do much better”
- Darron Hartas
“A very pleasant cafe with a lovely outlook. You can tell it's well run as it's very busy with regular customers. Great that it's dog friendly and plenty of people had dogs with them when we were last there.”

“Picked up a couple of coffee's before heading for the swings! Lovely atmosphere, clean and friendly. Hot coffee is OK but not worthy of the price point.”

“Nice place surrounded by green park. The menu is not very rich, but here you can drink excellent coffee.”
