Quick info
About Lebaneat Express
Lebaneat Express is a Lebanese takeaway in Durham, on Young St, open daily with no sit-in area. The wraps are very big, filled with kofta, chicken shawarma, spicy mince shawarma or halloumi. The whole-chicken platter comes with a side salad, grilled onions and capsicum, lavash bread and garlic sauce. A vegetarian platter pairs hummus and baba ganoush with spicy potatoes, and the vegan options include a vegan pizza. Meat is cooked fresh, so there is a little wait. Chips come topped with a spice the menu calls its secret seasoning.

Customer Review Summary
The complaints are specific. One reviewer says the chicken smelled by the time they got home, the lamb was a mix of well-cooked and underdone pieces, and the hummus tasted unusual. Another reports that everyone who ate the chicken afterward was violently sick, and a third describes a kebab as hard like a stone. A delivered whole chicken was called generic, with dry, overcooked wings and store-bought-seeming lavash bread and dips. One reviewer received no napkin or plastic fork with a juicy wrap and suggests asking for them.

“After a long trip away down south we went for a takeaway on a Monday evening - the staff were lovely, explained the menu to us clearly and offered us a selection of dishes - we had the vegetarian platter which had hummus, baba ganoush, spicy potatoes and other delicious dishes before tackling the mixed grill between us - this had all types of meat, wings and was served with the tastiest chips (secret seasoning on top) and also rice - great value for money and tasty food. Will definitely be back.”

“Ordered the whole chicken and garlic sauce. The delivery was prompt and in the time slot defined . The chicken came with a side salad , grilled onions and capsicum and lavash bread. The chicken was freshly made but generic as in a roasted supermarket rotisserie chicken making parts of it eg wings overcooked and dry . It could have been spatchcocked and grilled, which with a bit of effort would make it far nicer. The lavash bread and dips seemed to be store bought- again if made in house this would have resulted in a far tastier experience.”

“Forgot part of our order which they did then send no problem. Everyone that had the chicken was violently sick after though. Definitely one to avoid”

“I had a Halloumi Wrap with salad and garlic sauce and Sambousek Cheese and it was honestly delicious. It is pricy came to just over £15 but the quality of the food was really good.”
