Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the generous tapas portions, with several describing the dishes as filling and free of silly wee helpings, especially on the three-dish set deal. The crispy chili beef with prawn crackers is named as the standout, while the ribs, sweet and sour pork, tempura prawns, halloumi, crispy chicken and white chocolate profiteroles also draw praise. Cocktails are called delicious and phenomenal, and one diner with dietary restrictions found plenty of options, including a mocktail menu bigger than most. Staff are described as friendly, helpful and attentive. The main complaint is uneven cooking: reviewers report soggy street corn, panko cauliflower and chips, and one found the gnocchi overcooked and flavourless. One also found the booth seating uncomfortable, with the floor too far away to rest feet. Several walked in without a booking on busy nights, including a party of six and a festival evening, and were seated straight away.

“Fabulous location, staff were very attentive, checked if we needed drinks regularly. The food was lovely we went for the 3 dishes for £23. My partner had the virgin which was beautiful. Would recommend. Despite it being busy because of a the local Guid Nychburris festival we were seated straight away. The atmosphere was friendly and not too noisy.”

“I was thrilled and excited to find a place that can so easily cater to my intolerances and dietary restrictions. We had lunch today to celebrate our wedding anniversary and the food was stunning. The standout dish was the crispy chili beef with prawn crackers. I cannot recommend it enough. We also had the squid, the katsu cauliflower bites, greek lamb kebab, steak fries, halloumi, salted caramel tart and white chocolate profiteroles (which my husband was raving about for ages afterwards). I had PLENTY of options to choose from, rather than the usual small handful I find at restaurants, and I could happily have worked my way through the rest of the menu. Not only is the quality of the food stunning, but the portion sizes are fantastic. I did not expect, with them being tapas dishes, that they would contain as much as they did. The mocktail menu too was bigger than most and wasn't just fruit juices mixed together. I can't think of anything that could have improved it. The staff member who served us was lovely and my communication on messenger with the owner was wonderful too. I am gutted that we live so far away from this restaurant because if we were closer, we would absolutely be coming back frequently. If you live in the area, make sure to keep visiting them.”

“Popped into The Bank Bar and Tapas last night without a booking. They were busy, but the staff were super helpful and managed to sort a table for the six of us. All the food was really nice and we had a great time. Definitely recommend if you’re in Dumfries!”

“£22 for 3 dishes is quite the steal. The dishes are actually quite big which is nice as many other tapas will give you 3 pieces of calamari and charge you £7. I was completely full just on my own and I could see this filling up two people. Food was good. Philly cheese steak maybe could be a bit more seasoned. Staff are lovely and the place is beautiful. Would recommend.”
