About La Dolce Vita
La Dolce Vita is an Italian restaurant at 68 White Sands in Dumfries, where pizza arrives at the table with a pizza knife engraved with its name. The menu includes Vesuvio pizza and thin-crust pizzas, with a gluten free base available, alongside carbonara and bolognese pasta dishes. Antipasti di carne, cold meats served with bread and butter, works as a starter. Pre-6pm menus and lunchtime special deals give the day a set-menu option before evening. Customer Review Summary
Pizza leads the praise, with reviewers singling out the Vesuvio, packed with meat and enjoyed even by a diner who dislikes tomato sauce, and a gluten free base called fluffy. Pasta comes close behind, including fussili speciale and a bolognese, while garlic focaccia, scallops, and a selection of cold meats also earn mentions, along with presentation described as beautiful. Staff are called friendly and attentive, and several walk-ins were seated without booking. The recurring complaint is the dated look: reviewers mention a run down exterior, ceiling wallpaper starting to come off, and paint rubbed off near chairs. One reviewer gives a harsher account, listing a chair jammed in the revolving door letting in a cold breeze, a long wait for drinks, cork floating in a Merlot, bland Pollo Al Funghetto, a sickly sweet treacle tart, and a dirty stairwell to the toilets. Another found a carbonara drenched in pepper, yet still plans to return after an earlier perfect one.

“Had a wonderful meal here recently. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and presented beautifully on the plate. The attention to detail was lovely, even down to the pizza knife engraved with its name. We will definitely be back soon to try more of the menu.”

“And in on way back home, got seated without booking, presently surprised with the pre 6pm menus. Service was fast, the servers were attentive to what was going on and all had smiles. The garlic focaccia was amazingly nice and crispy and the bolognese was delicious. The interior was nice perhaps better when last remodeled as ceiling wallpaper was starting to come off and paint rubbed off near chairs. Overl all amazing”

“Our first visit today for lunch and we were not disappointed. We didn't book but it filled very quickly after we arrived. We thought the place could do with a bit of a facelift but that took nothing away from the excellent food and service. A varied menu and special deals at lunchtime help the pocket. Parking at The Loreburn centre lunchtime means a very short walk to the restaurant. Will definitely return and reccommend to anyone that enjoys excellent Italian food.”
