About The Glencairn Lounge
On Bridge St in Dumbarton, The Glencairn Lounge is a family restaurant and bar, with part of the pub set up as a dining area. The menu includes a homemade steak pie, served in large portions. Customer Review Summary
Generous portions are what reviewers raise most, with several saying they left food behind or could not manage dessert, and one noting a shared starter for two could have fed four. The homemade steak pie is the dish named most often, called phenomenal and incredible, while another diner would repeat a long round trip for the filet steak and praises the gold, crispy halloumi and the tempura prawns. The sticky toffee pudding, described as warm and gooey, is the dessert singled out, and one party found the cheesecake sold out. Staff are repeatedly called friendly. The main complaint is a takeaway order that arrived with missing and cold chips, a cheeseburger that looked microwaved and nachos without cheese. A staff member on the phone said no manager was in and told the caller to ring back the next day. Others mention food can take a while when busy, and one reviewer advises booking a table in advance. One family describes staff bringing out extra ice cream cones for the babies.

“What a delight. Asked a taxi driver for a good eatery and he recommended Glencairn. What excellent taste he had. We only had a couple of days in Dumbarton and enjoyed their food on both days. The service was excellent and the meals delicious. At 82 I can say in all my years I can't say I've eaten better food. Thankyou you 🌟”

“Truly the best food I’ve had in all of Scotland! The Homemade Steak Pie was phenomenal! The staff was so friendly and had great recommendations for food and desserts. The sticky toffee pudding was so good too! It was warm and gooey and so yummy. We found this place on ChatGPT and the portions sizes were great for hungry travelers. They brought out extra ice cream cones for the babies and entertain the kids so we could enjoy the meal. It was AMAZING! 💗”

“Ordered takeaway from Lomind eats. Missing chips and the ones we did get were cold. The "cheese" burger looked like it was microwaved and cheese nonexistent. The "cheesy" nachos were missing the cheese. Called the restaurant and the woman "couldn't help as there was no manager in" she was not the politest at all considering we got a microwave meal from a restaurant that normally gets good reviews. Got told to phone tomorrow around 11/12. Highly disappointed and had to get food from elsewhere.”
