Quick info
About Uncle Tom's Pub & Restaurant
The carvery anchors what Uncle Tom's Pub & Restaurant does on Lodge Rd in Doncaster, with Sunday dinner served as meat, veg and gravy. Pies sit alongside it on the menu, among them a steak pie filled with meat. The service format is a pub one, so drinks are ordered at the bar first and the menu is looked over once you are seated. Reservations are recommended, since the dining area books up. The kitchen runs Tuesday to Sunday, and the pub closes on Mondays. A step-free, wheelchair-accessible entrance gets visitors with mobility needs in without a kerb or stair, and high chairs mean families with young children can be seated with the rest of the table. Outdoor seating gives the option of eating outside in warmer weather.

Customer Review Summary
The carvery and Sunday dinner pull the most repeat visits, with reviewers describing tender meat, fresh veg and beautiful meat gravy. Close behind sits the steak pie, which one diner calls filled with meat, alongside a burger rated really good and kids' meals described as simple enough for fussy eaters. Portion size comes up again and again, huge plates at what several call real value for money, one visitor advising others to arrive starving. The setting surprises people: a humble exterior on a sports club bar attached to a cricket ground, with tables looking straight onto the pitch, and one party caught a Saturday match starting as they ate. Staff draw steady praise as warm, friendly and helpful Yorkshire folk who have a good natter with guests, and one reviewer notes booking is needed because it gets busy. Another mentions the regulars being greeted by first name and asked how their day is going.

“An amazing tucked away place. The food was great. Fantastic price, quantity and quality. The staff were both friendly and helful. We were travelling south from Nothumberland and it was only a few miles from the A1. Would recommend.”

“Having read all the reviews, we lobbed up here with high expectations, and were not disappointed . The exterior is humble. This is a sports club bar which must serve as function centre for the attached cricket club. The staff are amazingly lovely Yorkshire folk. Warm and friendly with smiles on their faces who couldn't be more helpful. We arrived just at opening time, got drinks at the bar and sat down to peruse the menu. The restaurant soon filled up with more and more punters, and we soon found out why. The food here is the star of the show. Generous portions, really delicious food and very keenly priced. As an added bonus, you look directly out onto the cricket ground. Whilst we were there, the Saturday match started and so we had the added bonus of being able to watch the cricket while enjoying our lunch. Not to be missed if you're looking for proper, genuine value with great service and good honest food.”
