About Saffron Indian Restaurant
Saffron Indian Restaurant is a restaurant on Church St in Doncaster, attached to The Loco pub and seating around 30 diners. Starters often include poppadoms and a pickle tray, and the large garlic naan arrives served hanging on a hook. A takeaway trade runs alongside the sit-down menu for those eating off site. The restaurant opens evenings only, Monday to Sunday except Tuesdays, and reservations are recommended given the small dining room. When the restaurant is fully booked, waiting or overflow seating is available in the pub bar next door. Parking can be found on the road across from the building.

Customer Review Summary
The pickle tray and poppadom starters draw repeated praise as an opening ritual, with the garlic naan, served on a hook by some accounts, coming up again and again alongside mains like the Balti exotica, lamb passanda, chicken Hyderabadi and lamb shank, and the korma that one diner's grandson finished off. Several reviewers call out specific standouts, from the onion bhajis to what one describes as the best onion bhajis they've had, and the mixed grill starter and Indian Railway curry both get individual mentions. Service is repeatedly described as attentive and welcoming, with staff accommodating walk-ins even when the small dining room, which seats around thirty, was fully booked by seating diners in the attached pub bar instead. Value comes up often too, with one group's full meal and drinks for two coming in under sixty pounds. The lone recurring criticism is about the setting itself, one reviewer found the restaurant too dark to read the menu comfortably and felt the tables were too small to fit everything. Multiple diners mention returning repeatedly since it opened and recommending it to family.

“Missus picked a 67-1 shot while cheltenham was on on Wednesday so with the winnings we decided to go for an indian.. we checked the google for the best indians in Doncaster and this one came up with a 4.9 rating so we headed off... we wont blame the restaurant for the closed road on the way from ours to haxey which sent us on a detour down one of the scariest roads ive driven but we made it and from the moment we were handed the menu our mouths were watering... the smells were just delightful.. absolutely stunning food, great service and a nice atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and will probably be back. Thanks you for a delightul meal”

“Spent a lovely couple of hours here last night, the food was delicious, had onion bhaji and chicken tikka for starters, a chicken Hyderabadi and a Lamg Shank for mains with pilau rice and a nan bread, absolutely delicious, with excellent service for both food and drink what more could you want. Sorry cant add photos this time too busy eating and had all gone by the time I thought of photos 😅”

“This restaurant is exceptional! We’ve been coming here since it opened and the quality and service remains extremely high! The food is authentic with the best onion barges we have ever had. The service is great and you are always made welcome by the most helpful and politest of staff. We will be back (again) for sure!”

“Friday night, family of 4. I have to say this is the best Indian meal I have ever had! I ordered the Balti exotica and it was fantastic! The staff are lovely and attentive. The prices are good too. The only thing that I can say was that the setting is too dark (I struggled to read the menu) and the tables are quite small to fit everything onto. A slightly bigger table with a table cloth/covering and central candle for ambience would really set the scene. My new favourite place for a s’uper tasty-hits the spot’ Indian cuisine.”
