About The Hourglass
The Hourglass is a gastropub on Horton Ave in Devizes, with tables by the canal that look out over the water. The menu covers burgers and steaks, including the Hat trick burger, and Sunday roast is served as a Sunday dinner. Beer is tied to Marston, and although a Marston sign hangs at the entrance, the pub is not run as a Marston pub. A function room hosts events such as baby showers. Dogs are welcome. The pub is now under new owners.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to friendly, lovely staff and the canal setting, with outdoor tables in the sun drawing particular praise. Close behind is the food. One diner calls the new Hat trick burger delicious, another had a delicious Sunday dinner, and one notes the kitchen followed a request to leave items off exactly. Several mention the pub changing hands recently, and one says the new owners were helpful with a function room used for a baby shower. The complaints are specific. One reviewer's Sunday roast had a chicken breast with a strange shell that was hard to cut, and gravy that tasted like granules. Another sat outside with two dogs, was never greeted, got no water for the dogs and gave up and ordered inside. Others describe a menu limited to basic burgers and steaks, no non dairy milk despite a note on the booking form, and glasses with water marks. One birthday table asked for a dessert with a candle, and even the kitchen staff joined in the singing.

“We used the Hour Glass function room for a baby shower, Kev and Lisa the owners were so helpful throughout all the planning and setting up, couldn’t have asked for a better place to host a baby shower! Highly recommend the Hour Glass for food as well as hosting events :)”

“The pub had a really nice atmosphere and the staff were very welcoming, our serving girl, Libby, was just lovely and deserves a shout out. The food was really good and came exactly as ordered, you wouldn't believe how difficult it is for most places to follow your request to leave things off, so for that alone we will definitely be back. We went middle of the afternoon so that it was quieter, by the time we left it was filling up with people popping in for a quick drink after work. A hidden gem i would say”

“We’ve just returned from a lovely evening at the Hourglass to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We had a great outside table in the sunshine with views over the canal. The staff were really friendly and accommodating, especially when asked to bring a dessert with a candle on so we could sing Happy Birthday - everyone including the kitchen staff joined in! The food was just what we wanted with plenty of choice and good quality. Thank you.”

“Staff friendly and helpful, food limited to basic burgers and steaks rather than the fabulous food it used to serve, also had no non dairy milk despite putting it on the booking form. Great setting but now a little over priced.”
