About The Last Post

The Last Post is a micropub on Uttoxeter Old Road in Derby, a small and tiny room with a handful of tables for walk-in drinkers. Real ales anchor the bar, alongside a couple of flat ciders, and the short, changing selection keeps the pour list tight. Dogs are welcome inside, and a tiny beer garden out the back adds a few more seats when the weather holds. Cyclists on group rides use it as a regular watering stop, and the cycle-friendly approach makes it a natural pause point on routes through the area. With seating kept to a minimum, the format stays close to a classic micropub: pull up, order at the bar, and find a spot. The Last Post works best for small groups and solo drinkers who like their ales poured in a compact, no-frills setting.

“I was the very first customer in this micropub way back in 20th September 2014 and it’s great to see it still going after all these years. I popped in a few times over years, last visit was 3 weeks ago. Lovely little micropub with good range of real ales and a couple of flat ciders. Tiny beer garden. Well recommended.”

“The best pub and ale house in Derby. First time visiting. We arrived at 12:02 and was met with a warm, funny and charming welcome from Hollie. We caused some chaos because we arrived at opening. Matt was amazing greeting us with a warm welcome and spending some time talking about cycling. A pub is judged by its character, welcome, the alcoholic nectar and community spirit. This has it all. If you are into cycling I would make this a mandatory stop on your ride/group ride. Thank you - defo be back.”
