Customer Review Summary

Burgers are what reviewers praise most, with one calling them some of the best they have tasted and another pointing to the Tuesday 2 for 1 deal. Close behind are the friendly staff, mentioned in nearly every review, and the home cooked food, described as delicious and reasonably priced, with the chips called exceptionally good. Drinkers note well priced ale on pump and an improved draught range that now includes Moretti and Aspall cider. Visitors staying nearby on camping and glamping trips also mention returning to watch the football, and a few mention the karaoke night, the Friday quiz and the garden by the bi folding doors. The main criticism comes from one detailed review: the fries arrived soggy, undercooked and hard in the middle, the stack burger's chicken was a bit dry, and the food was slow to arrive when the reviewer came without booking shortly after opening for dinner. The same reviewer found the katsu chicken burger nice, the homemade coleslaw good and the place very clean, and said the bar staff could not be faulted.

“After living in the area for some years we finally gave the village pub a try for dinner. The staff were very friendly, quick to serve us and pleasant throughout. We ordered burgers and drinks. Very pleased to see the range of drinks on tap has vastly improved with items such as Moretti and Aspells cider available. Food took 30 mins to arrive which is perhaps due to us being there shortly after 5pm without booking and being the only ones eating. The katsu chicken burger was nice, the stack burger, fine but the chicken a bit dry. Also think the burgers buns would be much better if brioche to compliment the contents better. Homemade coleslaw also nice not too much onion like you find in so many places. The place is very clean and tidy and new patio very nice in the sunshine and good benche. The only thing that really let this down was the fries. They were very soggy, undercooked and some still hard in the middle and tasted very sweet and greasy, perhaps due to the oil not being up to temperature, unsure. As a community run pub I would like to say it’s much nicer now it’s been done up and cannot fault the bar staff, but the fries definitely need attention. Would probably give it another try on one of their themed nights. If you are stopping here for drinks on one of the many lovely walks in the area it’s worth a visit.”
